Spring Fever Hits Today

Amaryllis bulb.  Blooming so fast.

I am having a Spring fever.  My friend bought a few pieces of Amaryllis bulb kit in pots few weeks ago.  They were sold very cheap at the store so I asked my friend to buy me one.

I didn't realize that the bulb will sprout very quickly.  I did not plant the bulb right away after I bought it.  My husband was curious what's in the pot so he checked on it and tried to feel what's in the package.  He said he felt something weird in there.  So I decided to plant it following the instructions in the kit.  Sure does the bulb has sprouted (picture 1).  It was very amazing.  The next few days the plant was completely upright with flower buds (picture 2).  We're so happy.

And here it is in full bloom.   There sure is a season for every thing.

Trying to capture a time lapse video of the bloom.

Weekend Snapshot: Is My Plant Ill?

Look at my plant, is it withering or hibernating? I have this for almost two years now but I've never seen my Amaryllis like this before. Since the winter started, my plant looked very ill. I am feeling sad right now. 'Watered it and put some plant food in the soil. If my Amaryllis is just hibernating, I hope it will bloom flowers in the Spring.

Single Bloom, Little Blooms

Yep! Look at my Amaryllis. It is shooting blooms without leaves at all. I wonder why? Maybe because the plant is in a very small pot or its growth was bad due to the hot summer heat last year? You see, the patio where the plant sits is facing the West. So the peak of the sun's heat directly strikes the patio. Being in a hot spot has made my Amaryllis grow slow.

I am so happy with the new blooms though. But my friend F (who gave me the Amaryllis as a welcome gift) will be disappointed to see the Amaryllis has very little flowers. Maybe not. Well, I am thankful it is still alive.

Weekend Snapshot: Spring By The Front Door

It was Spring last year when we moved in this apartment complex in Fort Worth. And this is the first time I took a picture of the Amaryllis plant right in front of our apartment unit. I did not pay attention to this plant until today. There are three of them and they are beginning to bloom! Yey! They are giving us flowers.

I wonder how long these plants have been here.

Getting Green Again

During the fall and winter times, my plants went 'dead'. My roses turned brown and my Amaryllis was totally cut off. I am not sure if they will come back to life or not until today. When I was doing my watering routine I noticed my Amaryllis is starting to grow its leaves. Yay! She is coming back from hiatus (getting green) again. I do not know when do my roses show their leaves. I am afraid they are dried for good.
