Weekend Snapshots: Garage Sale 2014

Kolcraft Universal 2 Infant car seat stroller
We just had a garage sale this weekend.  My cousin joined with me and had her items dropped off last night.

It was kind of struggle because the weather this morning was unpredictable.  Early as seven o'clock in the morning I started cleaning up the driveway and garage.  Then I set up the garage sale items.  But after a little while, it started to sprinkle until the drops became bigger.  It was raining this morning.  So moved the clothing, small electronics, and baby and infant gear in the garage so they won't get wet.

There were buyers, thankfully.  We didn't sell much (because of the weather) but we did good.  My cousin and I are planning to have another one in the next few weeks before end of this month.  Hopefully we sell all of the stuff.

Cleaning Up Garage For More Storage Space

This weekend we will be having a garage sale.  This is an annual event in our neighborhood.  It is not necessary that everyone joins the garage sale.  I sent out invitations to the neighbors and it's their decision to participate or not. Gladly I heard from on of them and she said she will participate.  Good!  My cousin is joining, too.  She will be bringing her stuff for sale here at my house tomorrow.

We have so much stuff to sell.  Mostly are clothing, toddler toys, kitchen stuff, a few tools, and knick knacks.  My dear husband needs to get rid of some of his old tools in the garage.  He needs more space for his electronics materials for his side job.  Another thing is hubby is planning to put new storage in the garage.  It looks terribly unorganized right now.  Makes your eyes hurt when looking inside our garage.  Really.

As part of his shopping for garage storage units, there is one that he is interested in at GarageAppeal.com and it looks like it will fit in the space in our garage.  So hopefully, we will be able to sell all the stuff on Saturday.  If not, there is always another weekend for a garage sale.

"Hi Cows!"

Cows in the ranch.
On our way to visit my cousins this afternoon, my darling daughter and I stopped by to see these gorgeous cows in the field.  They were out there eating and some are relaxing.  It was so amusing that they looked at us back.  My little one was telling them "Hi cows!  We are going to Audrey's house."

This is one of the nice things living in the country.  You can see ranches and fields.  Cows, horses, goats, and sheep.

Our Wi-Fi Internet Is Up!

Yay!  I am so happy that the Wi-fi is back!  We had no Internet connection for five days because the router got busted from the severe thunderstorm Monday. I woke up to the loud thunder and it seemed like it was just right outside our bedroom window.

When I tried checking my online stuff, then I learned that our Internet connection is down.  I checked the router if the lights are flashing but they're not.  Solid green lights.  And that was the problem.  I left a voicemail to the technical department of our ISP that Monday.  Five days passed but nobody called me back.  So I tried contacting them again today.  I didn't get some luck getting thru the technical department's direct line when I called three times and waited for like 10 minutes each time.  I decided to get somebody from a different department.  And hurray!  A lady from the billing department answered and I courteously asked her to transfer me to the technical department.  After two rings, someone answered.  What the h---?

My concern wasn't very difficult.  I just want to know what the solid green lights mean and what troubleshooting we should do at our end.  That's all!  Then the guy said that the router was ruined and non-functional now.  We have to get a new one.

So that's what we did.  I bought a new router from Walmart for $32.  The installation was very easy.  Thanks to the lady who answered the phone.  And thanks to the guy who responded.  Now our Wi-fi Internet is up!  :)

Weekend Snapshot: Digitalis or Foxgloves

Digitalis
It is Mother's Day and my dear husband bought some presents for me and his mom.  The folks are here to visit and celebrate Mother's Day with us.  Darling daughter is very glad also that her grandparents are here.

Aside from Mother's Day greeting cards, my dear husband bought balloons and this strange-looking flowering plant.  When my mother-in-law looked at the tag, she said it's called Digitalis.  It needs full sun to shade.  Good.  I hope it will survive.  I'll do my best to take care of it.

Shopping For Mother's Day Cards

We had a very good rainfall Thursday.  It rained all day.  We needed that and we need more rain to help fill up the lakes again.  There were tornado warnings in Dallas.  There was a flash flood warning in our area.

When the rain wasn't pouring that hard at about 3:00 P.M., my darling daughter and I did a quick trip to the convenient store to buy an ingredient for the snack I planned to make that day.  Also, I bought a few greeting cards for Mother's Day to mail the next day.  As soon as we entered the store, it was raining hard again.

After shopping, we drove home...slowed down by the heavy rains and a flooded portion of the road.

Sorrowful

Today is a very very sad day for my side of the family.  My grandpa passed away early this morning.  He got very ill.  He was admitted to the hospital Friday.  My mom said he had a fever, high blood pressure, and breathing difficulty.  The doctors placed an oxygen mask on him and, according to my mom, a monitoring device that beeps was placed on one of grandpa's fingertips.  I believe it was a pulse oximeter.

We will miss him so much.  Grandpa was 85 years old.

Starting Our Vegetable Garden For 2014

Just bought few tomato plants yesterday from a hardware store nearby.  They're selling $2.50 per box that contains 4 tomato plants.  I bought three boxes of different varieties.

We are starting our vegetable garden again.  For this year, we will be having tomatoes (mostly as usual), eggplant, okras, and bok choy.  We will also try to grow sweet potatoes for sweet potato tops and string beans.  Hopefully the string beans will give me lots of harvested beans this year.

My dear husband already planted the tomatoes this evening when he got home from work.  This weekend we'll buy the other vegetables seeds we can plant them as sooner.
