Cleaning The Dishwasher

We were having this problem with our dishwasher that it leaves soap scum on the glasses and plates after dish washing.  I was very upset about it.  My father-in-law recommended a dishwasher cleaner that he used and he said it was very effective.  Because minerals in the water build up in the dishwasher overtime, it will affect the performance of the appliance.  It may lead to films and soap scum on glasses and plates.

So I bought one from Walmart and tried the cleaner today.  Surely the dishwasher got cleaned and the racks felt smooth when I pulled them out and pushed back in.  My honey was surprised to see how clean the inside is.  Now we can't wait to try it. But we have to wait 'till the dishwasher is full of dirty dishes and silverware before we turn it on.  As soon as we do, I will let y'all know about the result.

How about you?  What dishwasher cleaner do you use?  Any tricks?  Tips and recommendations are highly appreciated.

I just use the cascade with Jet combination and I never had any problem with soap scum and such. But, I will definitely try one of those dishwasher cleaner and disinfectant.

I'm not familiar with dishwasher. Just the usual manual stuff with the dish washing paste/liquid and some sponge does the trick!

Mare, try the one with jet combination. That's what I use too and I have no problem with it.

glad that you found the right dishwasher soap that wont give soap scum anymore. I normally soap my dishes on the sink and use the washer to rinse it

when it comes to dishwasher soap, we use the gel/liquid...not the powder ones.

Hmm one of the stuff that I am not fun of buying. hahaha Maybe my nose is just so sensitive. So I buy them during other days when it's not really my grocery time.

I agree with the saying that you can trust a brand/product unless someone have tried it. Therefore, i always read reviews before purchasing a product. So, since your father inlaw recommend this, then it must be good! It's worth a try!

@Dhemz, I told my husband about it, but he said something's not good about the liquid to dishwashers.

@Chrisair, dishwashing cycle use lots of water and it's really powerful. but still there's scum. maybe something about the water here in the house? not sure...will check it too.

@Joy, I always read reviews too. And takes recommendations from family and friends.

I haven't had the chance to use the dishwasher. I'll keep this product in mind, though.

I got the same problem lately Mare, do you know what I used to solve it? I added a little vinegar in each load, and the dishes just sparkles when done.
