Lunar Eclipse April 15, 2014

I was able to see the total Lunar Eclipse this morning (1:30-4:30 A.M. Texas time).

A shot wide angle with Mars.

I didn't know that a lunar eclipse was about to happen until I saw a friend's shared article about the Blood Moon on Facebook.

The temperature dropped to about 42 degrees Fahrenheit and I was shivering outside trying to take great photos of the eclipse.  I thought, to keep myself warm, I will go inside my dear husband's truck.  Well I realized that it was not a good idea because I will be in trouble for using the gas for heat.  So I went in and out of the house.

But I tried my best to capture pictures of the beautiful moon.  I didn't want to miss the wonderful phenomenon.  Thanks also to the live stream of the lunar eclipse courtesy of the Griffith Observatory located in California.

There will be upcoming lunar eclipses.  For details click here.

Oh cool! You're so lucky to have a chance to see the lunar eclipse. I have not had the chance to catch anything like that before. I did see a shooting star once...that is as close as I came to seeing something 'special' in the sky.

It was so cool to watch! We were outside watching it down here in Florida. My girls stayed on and were excited! Great pics! Mine turned out all fuzzy :(

Cool photos! I was going to set my alarm, but it's always impossible to see things where I live - too much light pollution.

They say there will be another eclipse next month and since I wasn't able to catch the last one, I'll keep listening for the next one. Funny how it seems we all heard about it on Facebook. Thank you for the pics!

Beautiful pictures! My camera really sucks in the darkness and I can never get great pics at night!

Thanks for sharing this. We missed the lunar eclipse because it was cloudy and very cold here in WI that night. We just went to bed to get some sleep it was late anyway for my kids.
