Will Enjoy Her Home

Tonight is the last night of sleeping here in the apartment. We are leaving tomorrow. We are moving back to the house. The house that my honey and I missed so much.

And beginning tomorrow, my honey and I will be living there together with our baby girl. We are a family now. It is so nice be back at the house again. Everything went well as planned. Our little girl will surely enjoy her home.

Deliciously Sweet

My girl friend and I went to a birthday party in Sunnyvale, Texas today. We met new Filipina friends. Also, I met a previous online acquaintance. We became friends in a social network website but never get the chance to meet in person. She lives in Forney, which is closer to Sunnyvale. I am glad I got to meet her after two years. Thanks to birthday parties! Haha!

The food was great! Most dishes were prepared by the birthday celebrant. But a friend helped and she cooked Menudo. The desserts were deliciously sweet. Because of my glucose monitoring, I just had to eat a little bit. Ugh!

The King of Queens: A Mirror of Our Lives

My wife and I make it a point to watch The King of Queens whenever we can. We are approximately the same age as the two main characters, Doug and Carrie Heffernan. The two of us have also had many similar experiences in our marriage.

Doug is played by the actor Kevin James and Carrie is portrayed by Leah Remini. These are both stars we have enjoyed in other shows and movies as well.

We can relate to the interaction between Doug and Carrie in almost every episode, as many young couples probably can too. At times they seem incompatible and it causes temporary stress for them. However, they always seem to find common ground and realize they are meant for each other.

The perceived incompatibility is what creates some the funniest moments in the show. Doug's love of sports and somewhat carefree attitude often clashes with Carrie and her interests.

Our favorite episode involves a problem they have with their annoying next-door neighbors that build a pool. Carrie is furious when she later discovers Doug has actually been swimming there behind her back.

Unfortunately the show ended regular production in 2007. Luckily several reruns of The King of Queens are shown daily. direct tv in texas gives us the option to search for air times and then watch it when we want.

Baby Shower Games

I am very thankful to D, E, and N for hosting my baby shower yesterday. It was great! Though just a couple of invited guests came, still the party was awesome. D organized a few baby shower games for us to enjoy. The most fun one was the Never say "Baby" game.

The food prepared was delicious. It was a combination of American and Filipino dishes. My honey liked the baked chicken wings and the lumpia (spring rolls). Everybody had a great time. And the gifts, ah, I love them! I cannot wait for my baby girl to arrive and use the gifts she received.

Weekend snapshot: Rainy Saturday

'Went to check the mail and out for a walk this morning even if it was raining. But not that heavy, though. I took the opportunity to walk in the rain. I missed that. It was nice.

First semester is almost over. My youngest sister is preparing for the Final examinations in October. It was like yesterday when she joined the crowd of students lined up at the Nursing department's admission office for registration.

She said the subjects are interesting. She is learning many things. But it is only the first semester of the first year. She will encounter more than general education subjects. As long as she is interested with the course, the rest will be easy. We are here to support her no matter what.

Visiting Turkey

Two years ago I took one of the absolute best trips. My boyfriend and I decided to go to Turkey for two weeks after watching a special about Istanbul on our DirecTV. I would have never even thought to visit this country, but I am so glad that we did. It was one of the best two weeks of my life and I loved everything that we did while we were there. The country had so much to offer. From the beautiful beaches to the amazing cities, each day we were surprised and excited to find something new.

We spent most of our time in and around Istanbul while we were there. We visited some amazing museums, ate wonderful food and visited beautiful mosque. By far my favorite thing about Istanbul was all of the history that the city has. There were so many beautiful old buildings that all had an amazing history and story behind them. The architecture in the city was much more than I had ever expected. Since I didn't know much about Turkey, I was blown away by the beautiful sky line of the city and all of the amazing shops and homes.

Three Hours! Imagine?

What a long wait at the doctor's office yesterday afternoon. Three hours! Imagine? Who would be patient to wait that long? Me. Because I do not want to come back for another appointment except in the next month. I ate all the snacks I brought with me. Still, 'not called.

I had another appointment that afternoon so I went to the front desk and told the staff about my situation. After ten minutes, I was called to see the doctor. Then another 10 minutes, I was called to take my medicine.

Anyway, glad everything went well with the consultation. I am gaining weight and the medication dosage was lowered. That's good. But the therapy continues for eighteen weeks.

My friends and I visited the store yesterday. I got to see my former co-associates. It was fun mingling with them again.

Everybody's telling me I look good (maybe because I am gaining weight). They are all excited about the thought of me having a baby. I haven't seen the girls in the customer service though. I heard that K is in San Antonio now and C is in the audit department. The store hired new customer service assistants.

It was great to see everyone again. I miss the chats, the job, and the paychecks. Haha!

Financial Crisis

In times of financial crisis, who refuses to grab the opportunity of getting a loan? But before committing yourself to loan, be sure you know the terms or policy of the lender. Once you get into this situation, responsibility should be observed. You should be responsible with settling your obligation.

When I was in a very tight budget, I took the risk of applying for guarantor loans. My co-employees asked me if I am interested to join their group for they were planning to apply for a loan also. The processing took two weeks because we were six in the group. When the group application got approved, I had mixed emotions. I was happy yet worried. What if I couldn't make payments on time? I thought I will be into a big trouble because my salary is just enough for me and my family's daily needs at that time. There's no turning back, I had the money and, honestly, I had a couple of important matters waiting ahead for it. But with easy convenient payment terms I was able to pay my loan.

It was kinda hard to get into that kind of obligation. However, it was really a great help for me.

Gestational Diabetes In Pregnancy

Well, it was disappointing. The Oral Glucose Tolerance Test (OGTT) did not came out good. As what the nurse told me over the phone today, two out of four blood tests from the glucose test came back with high sugar level. Meaning, I have gestational diabetes.

The good news is that gestational diabetes is treatable. If is not treated, there will be a problem. My OB-GYN scheduled me for an appointment with a dietitian next week.

Oral Glucose Tolerance Test

The oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) is scheduled tomorrow morning at eight. I have to fast starting 9:00 P.M. tonight until 11:00 A.M. tomorrow. This test is to check if I have gestational diabetes.

According to WebMD website, OGTT is done to measure the body's ability to use a type of sugar, called glucose, that is the body's main source of energy. It is most commonly done to check for diabetes that occurs with pregnancy (called gestational diabetes).

All pregnant patients should be screened for gestational diabetes during their pregnancy. OGTT is generally given between the 24th and 28th week of pregnancy. I am 26 weeks on the way now so my OB-GYN scheduled me for the test. Surely, I will be starving after the screening. I should bring food to eat as soon as I am done with it.

In connection with our moving preparations, we are cutting our subscription from the television service in this apartment in four weeks. My honey is looking into a local tv satellite service for the house in Nevada.

We want it to be affordable but the channels should be worth the pay. He asked me to check on localtv-satellite.com for bundles and special packages. So far, I see good offers. I just have to see if the channels and programming is interesting. Looks like the offers from www.localtv-satellite.com is inviting. My honey will call them any time soon next week to talk about a possible installation.

Why It's Called A Green Card?

Finally I received my green card for the removal of conditions on residence. The application took about three months of processing from the submission of documents to the approval. There are applicants who say that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) schedules interview. But in my case, I did not get interviewed.

You see, the first Permanent Resident Card is not green. But the second one, which is a 10-year residency card, is green. Now I know why it is called a green card.

Outdoor Protection

We had a simple Labor Day lunch date. Actually, my honey and I went to a Mexican Restaurant right across the apartment complex. After having a fajita fiesta meal, we went to the park.

I saw families in groups enjoying each others' company. It was a sunny day but being under the sun seemed like nothing to them. Because they brought tarps with them. Good thing to use in a bright sunny day. Cool. Nice idea for a yard party at the house. We might use a tarp to protect us from the heat of the sun or rain when we are out in the yard. And how about custom made tarps to cover the truck and the car? Could be.

Today's Humor: Drawing

A Kindergarten teacher was observing her classroom of children while they were drawing. She would occasionally walk around to see each child's work.

As she got to one little girl who was working diligently, she asked what the drawing was. The girl replied, "I am drawing God."

The teacher paused and said, "But no one knows what God looks like." Without missing a beat, or looking up from her drawing, the girl replied,
