Be Sure Your Elders Are Secured

It is good to know that my mother convinced her father not to live in his house at the farm but to stay with the family instead. He has no decent home there...no more. What scares us is that, there is nobody who can look after him if something happened like if his hypertension attacks? That is going to be difficult for him to ask for help. His house does not have any life alert device installed.

My grandfather agreed to stay with my family back home now. My parents can attend to him and help him on emergency. If emergency happens, life alert detectors are just close by. It would be very convenient for my grandfather to visit his brother and sister who lives in the neighborhood. I can tell that my grandpa is happy to be with the family especially with his grand kids.

I have elderly parents. My mom is in a nursing home and my dad is still living by himself. I am more concerned about him than my mom. I am afraid he is going to have to either live with one of us or be placed in an assisted living so he will not hurt himself or be hurt by anyone else. Thank you for this post. The elderly do need TLC and who else is going to give it to them except us.

That's so nice he moved in with his family. I couldn't convince my dad to move in with me but did convince him to get Life Alert which worked very well. The only problem he had with it was that he accidentally set it off a few times and paramedics and me came unnecessarily which embarrassed him--once was about 2 a.m.! After that, he quit wearing it all the time which wasn't very helpful.
