Weekend Snapshots: Zumba Party

Everyone was lively and sweating at the Zumba Party this evening.
My cousin invited me to a Zumba Party this evening at the Wylie Recreation Center.  The party started at 8:30 P.M until 10:00 P.M.  The registration was $5 per participant.  I haven't been to dance fitness parties before and it was the very first time I joined the Zumba Party this evening.  It was super fun!  The crowd was very lively.  Almost all wore neon shirts.  The lights brought everybody's glow.  There was a face painting session before the party.  There were free glow-in-the-dark bracelets and snacks (protein bars).  The recreation center also let us use towels.

Man, I tell you I haven't sweat like crazy until tonight.  It was super duper enjoyable.  Sure is nice to do work outs with lots of company because the motivation level is very high.  I bet my body will be sore tomorrow. :)

If there's gonna be a Zumba Party coming soon, my cousin and I will definitely join again.

New Family Doctor

I went to a new doctor for a health check up.  The doctor that my dear husband and I used to see wasn't that very good.  I mean they don't call for appointment confirmations  and stuff like that.  Like they don't care with the patients.  Well, what do we expect?  My husband said the office is like a walk-in.  You can come and go just like that.

Anyway, I finally found a family doctor that seemed nice and accommodating.  Though the doctor's office is quite a distance from our house, the location is convenient from my husband's office.

I had a conversation with her while she was checking my vitals and stuff.  She moved to Texas from Florida 10 years ago.  She has two kids but she looked very young to me.  I am glad that she gave me another refill of my prescription medicine.  She scheduled me for a blood work next week.  I have to go there at 8:00 in the morning.  Arg!

Sorrowful

Today is a very very sad day for my side of the family.  My grandpa passed away early this morning.  He got very ill.  He was admitted to the hospital Friday.  My mom said he had a fever, high blood pressure, and breathing difficulty.  The doctors placed an oxygen mask on him and, according to my mom, a monitoring device that beeps was placed on one of grandpa's fingertips.  I believe it was a pulse oximeter.

We will miss him so much.  Grandpa was 85 years old.

Time To Start Quitting

It's Lenten Season.  A time to reflect about what we have done to ourselves, to other people, and to the world.  I know it is hard but we have to be firm with changing our bad habits to good ones.  Change doesn't have to be a very difficult process.  It should be done slowly but surely.

If you are into something addictive, now is the time to start quitting.  Too much of something is bad.  It is very surprising to see statistics showing how people get into something that leads to overly consumed by it.  I was stunned to see about the coffee drinking.  I don't drink too much coffee.  Disregarding the rest in the presentation, I admit that I worked more that 11 hours when I was employed years ago.  Geez, I couldn't believe myself.

But like I said, there is always time for change.  Just stick to your discipline and ask for His guidance.  And a strong support system at home can help a lot.

Happy Spring Cleaning!

My honey and I were talking about cleaning up this coming Spring.  It has been a tradition to do Spring cleaning here.  We will do a big garage sale when the weather gets very nice one weekend.  I will join the neighborhood's yard sale too. We have lots of stuff to get rid of.  There are many things in the house that need replacement.

For now, I am starting with my stuff.  Yes.  I need to get rid of unused personal items like handbags, shoes, and clothing.  Some of them are really nice and it kinda break my heart to give them away.  So, I am deciding to sell them whenever I get the chance.  For any amount I save from this activity will benefit my grandpa because he is maintaining a medication for an infection treatment.  And I am setting up a space on eBay.com so y'all can check the other items for sale too.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day.  Happy Spring cleaning!

A Gift For Vision Improvement

Shipping of the Christmas presents for my family in the Philippines is delayed.  The previous months were very occupied because of special events.  There are Holiday outfits for my niece and nephews in the package.  I bought some clothing for my brother and sisters too.  In addition, my parents love lotions and fragrances.  So I included a couple in the box also.

I remember my parents requested something from me.  Something that they can use all the time-prescription eyeglasses.  Both my parents have vision problems.  It has been my concern when I was home.  We did not have the money for eye check-ups that time.  So they just bought a pair of eyeglasses and they borrow from each other.  So pitiful.  Now I can definitely buy them cheap eyeglasses but with the same quality that can be found in designers'.  It is a good time to shop for prescription eyeglasses this holiday because there are many stylish frames to choose from.  Because these are very affordable, I can still buy a nice shirt for my father and a pretty casual dress for my mother.  I chose this frame because it looks simple but classy.  My mother would really like it.  Hopefully I can send the package early next year so my family will be happier.

How about you?  Is somebody in your family have vision problems?  What frames would you like to buy for them as gifts?  Feel free to share here.

Flu Symptoms?

I hope my honey will feel much better now that he is taking some decongestant pills. His cold is gone but the coughing is still making him feel terrible. It has been four days since it started.

We were both worried because he thought it might be the flu. He was sneezing hard and had a dry cough the past few days. Seemed like he was experiencing the flu symptoms. His body's weak that he needed to go to bed early (after dinner) and sleep long hours. It was terribly bad and not an enjoyable week for my honey. Flu is a seasonal sickness. We did not get the shots last year thinking we will not get the flu.

As of the moment, my honey is taking pills for chest congestion. My MIL gave them to him while we were at her house. I rub his chest, back, and throat with vapor rub so he can breath easily, especially at night. Treating flu symptoms. Yes, that's what we are doing.

Never Been Sick For Years

Gee! This is not a nice week for us. After I had a migraine two days ago, here goes my honey with a bad cold. His body is aching and he feels tired. He sounds like a possessed person whenever he talks. He's never been sick for years. I feel bad because I couldn't care for him. I don't want to get sick too.

We are not sure if we can go to Tyler this weekend for my mother-in-law's birthday. We'll find out tomorrow.

Grandpa's Health

I am a bit worried about my grandfather's health. It is off and on. I mean, today he feels great...next day he is not. And still he wants to work in his farm. My grandpa is also maintaining an area of rice fields (that also consumes his energy). He was in a critical condition before. I am afraid it is coming back. My mother keeps on asking him to stay home and rest because she knows that working in the farm is very exhausting.

Farmers back home do not have retirement. They do not even have insurance plans. Instead of paying for the premium, they use the money to sustain the needs of their families. They do not think of their health anymore. Sad right?

The family is doing its best to help my grandpa care for his well-being. We still need him around.

We love you grandpa. Your great grand children are yet to see you.

Weekend Snapshot: Reading Glasses

Working in front of the computer for just a couple of hours is really eye straining I can say. I get migraines because of strained eyes sometimes. So when I got the opportunity to go to an eye doctor, my honey said to get me a pair of reading glasses which I can also use whenever I work online in the evening.

I am so thankful I got these glasses.

Become Health And Body Conscious

Nowadays, we are getting more watchful of our health status. Because of different types of sickness arising, we do our best to keep our families from getting them.

In monitoring our health, the first thing we observe is our weight. Losing or gaining weight depends on a person's perspective. We need to lose weight to maintain good health, same as gaining weight. But being overweight is different. It may become the reason of getting a heart disease. We do not want to be sick, right?

In order to maintain a balanced weight, some people rely on supplements like Herbalife. I heard about this before and even told of good feedback. Since then, it has been the talk of the town. Herbalife Gewichtskontrolle supplies them for weight management supplement purposes. If you are interested to know more about this product, feel free to visit, read, and understand everything. So you will not be misguided.

'Love Him So Much For Taking Care Of Me

Sunday was no fun for me. I had a bad headache (migraine). While the weather's bad outside, my body was feeling bad too. My honey made me some dinner but I had no appetite. I was felt so terrible and miserable.

After forcing myself to finish a pair of toast with jelly, I took a pain killer pill to relieve the headache. I slept on the couch for about two hours and when I woke up, my headache was gone :) I love my honey so much for taking care of me.

Thank God I am back to normal again.

Make It A Habit: Drink Plenty Of Water

Thank you for all the kind notes you left in my post. I appreciate your concerns. I am feeling better now. My honey always does a good job taking care of me whenever I feel bad. This changing weather is starting to bother me now. And here is what, my honey is now having minor head colds too. Uh oh!

That is why we drink lots of water and fruit juice because the heat of the summer dehydrates the body. The body's natural resistance to sickness weakens if we do not have enough water in our bodies. So make it a habit, drink 6 to 8 glasses of water everyday.

Long Term Health Benefit

Darn! I am going to the dentist again tomorrow. What is wrong these guys? They want to pull my tooth out. I know the filling of this tooth popped out when I ate peanuts. Why can't they just replace the filling so the tooth will be saved? Gosh, this is ridiculous! I understand this is for my long term health but...you know what I mean? I am just like chicken.

Health Alert For Him

With regards to staying fit and healthy, my honey has to lose weight (for about 10 lbs.) in three months. Yes. That was what the doctor advised him to do. He had his medical check-up last month and they checked his blood twice. 'The result? His blood sugar is getting high. Alarming.

My honey is doing his exercise. Very good. I hope laziness will not strike at him. Well, I am always here to remind him everyday. (Kuliton gayod nako pirmi bah.)

Hyper Acidity

What the h*** is happening with my stomach? Actually it started feeling awful yesterday morning. When I woke up I head straight to the bathroom and threw up. I do not think I ate something spoiled. Ugh! I really hate this. Then here it goes again. Acting up like I need to take a pill. It is bad because my enjoyment in our vacation is partly ruined.

Oh I need to go to the restaurant and get me some milk. Do I have hyper acidity? Maybe. My stomach is growling whenever it gets the chance.

Delicious And Nutritious Greens

What is special about the green color? Green is the color that symbolizes abundance, health, and life. The special thing about it is that, we feel alive and healthy whenever we see the green surroundings and the food associated with it (green leafy vegetables and fruits).

Eating healthy, green foods should be part of a person's healthy lifestyle. A daily balanced diet should also be observed. Salad is one of the most common meal starters. My honey loves to eat tender green salad. Prepared almost with vegetables, it is truly delicious and nutritious. Health conscious like we are love it. There is no doubt that tender green salads will give you and me a healthy advantage too.

Supplements For A Healthy You?

Have you tried taking herbal supplements as alternative for multi-vitamins pills? If so, were you able to tell if they are effective? I am just curious because some of my relatives were taking herbal supplements. They were telling me that they feel more lively and active.

We cannot deny that herbal medicine is getting popular now. They come in different kinds according to individuals' health needs. For people who have a high cholesterol, there is beta glucan. It helps lower cholesterol and maintains strong immune system. Other than that, there are herbal supplements which help in losing weight and keeping in shape. Whatever you are taking right now, I hope they really support your body's health against sickness.

Give Them Comfort

"Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." Yes I agree to this ancient proverb. But I would like to replace the word 'man' to 'child'. So it would be, "Early to bed and early to rise makes a child healthy, wealthy, and wise. Because children need enough sleep, they should go to bed early so that they will wake up full of energy the next day.

Having a restful good night's sleep makes the children feel great. Whatever they do all day, their body condition stays strong. Thus it is important to give them the best comfort we could give. How? Start in the bedroom. Do they have a comfortable bed to sleep on? This idea of getting childrens beds is to assure parents that children is comfortable in the bedroom. We rest soundly on our beds right? If we sleep comfortably in our own bedroom, the same should be with the kids. Decorating the bedroom with girly or boyish theme and a soft bed with striking design makes a difference. A cozy accent and latest styles of childrens beds are very reasonable to buy right now because the holidays are over. There are many styles and colors to choose from to match the theme of every child's bedroom. So if you want your children to stay healthy, wealthy, and wise, give them the comfort of good night's sleep.
