Our Lunch Today - Rice, Garden Salad, and Shrimp

Photo Challenge Day 16 - Balanced

Balanced diet.
This is my entry to the photo challenge for the month of September.  I know it's kind of late to join but I am doing it anyway.  Balanced is today's photo topic.  I thought I'd share with you our lunch today. And I think it's a balanced diet.  Rice, eggs, green salad, and shrimp are very delicious and nutritious.  And to keep our meals balanced, I do my best to serve vegetables or fruits at the table.

Weekend Snapshot: Fried Foods For Lunch

In this cold wintery weather, one of the ideal foods that I like to make are fried seafood and fried chicken. Well, let us say I am craving for some seafood today.  Gladly I had shrimp and tilapia fish in the freezer.  My household does not eat seafood too much except for fried shrimp.

Fried shrimp in batter

Fried tilapia

Fried chicken wings
Before I fried these chicken wings, I boiled them in a little water, a little vinegar, garlic, ground black pepper, and salt for flavor.  And they turned out really good.  I like dipping fried foods in ketchup.  My little girl does too.

"Don't Hop Away Bunny!"

After the dinner at the Mexican Restaurant we drove to the lake couple of miles away from our neighborhood.  And while on our way home, we saw a bunny on the side of the road.  He seemed very tamed so stepped out of the car and tried to take a couple of pictures of the bunny.  I thought he's gonna hop away when I got closer but he didn't!  My honey said it's rare to see a bunny so tamed like this one.

Weekend Snapshot: Rice Cake

My first steamed rice cake (puto) in two years! It's one of my favorite delicacy but it took me SO long to do it. What a shame!

Anyway, made this puto from White King Rice Cake Mix.

Weekend Snapshot: Taking Pictures Rain Or Shine

After getting off from work Friday night, we headed to Tyler for the weekend. My mother-in-law celebrated her birthday Saturday. Of course, I took some pictures.

At the rest area in Lindale.

Birthday gift for me from sis-in-law's kids.

Mom-in-law's present, and mine too :)

Enjoying the sun :)

Desert at Shogun Restaurant in Tyler.

And Sunday afternoon, I drove us home in this weather.

Weekend Snapshot: Spicy Dinner

Let's get hungry. It is the weekend's cooking. My honey made Shrimp Jambalaya for the weekend. Oh it is good. Despite of the spicy flavor, it is good! As always, I have rice on my plate. I am not a fan of spicy foods but there are some that I like.

How about you?
