Weekend Snapshot: Spaghetti, Water Park, And A Souvenir

Delicious Spaghetti with Polish sausage
Waterpark in Garland, Texas
Remembrance from the getaway
It was a very sunny afternoon Saturday and our family was busy today.  First, we took my daughter to her swimming lesson at YMCA.  After the 30-minute splashing in the pool, we head home and had lunch at a pizza parlor close to our house.  I ordered my favorite Spaghetti with Polish sausage.  My daughter likes spaghetti too.  My husband had a medium sized pizza supreme.

Second, I had a swimming party in Garland with friends.  Though I was very late coming, I was able to enjoy the thrill slides and swimming itself.  We went to the Hawaiian Falls in Garland.  Because I want aware of the people behind me at the Wave Pool, I scraped my knee.  Injured.  Not cool!  I cleaned and put anti-infection cream on the wound as soon as I got home.  I hope it won't scar or it would be truly a souvenir from Hawaiian Falls. :)

Summer Pool Safety for Kids

Whether you are going to a friends' pool, the local public pool or in your own backyard, summer safety around swimming pools is a must. A few tips to keep in mind while your kids are around the water can keep them safe all summer long.

Never allow children to swim alone or without adult supervision. Taking your eyes off them for just a minute is enough time for a child to drown.

Water floats are toys and are not a safe alternative to personal flotation devices such as water safety vests. If a child cannot swim be sure to keep them in a shallow pool with supervision.

Safety gates should never be altered or left unlocked. Above and inground pools should all have fencing around the entire pool area with a locking mechanism. The use of a Security Choicehome security alarm on a pool gate can save a child's life.

Take your child to a swim class if they cannot swim. The classes are usually very fun for the kids and they will have gained a valuable lesson that will remain with them for life. Most public pools as well as YMCA's offer swim classes for free or little cost.

Do not allow diving into pools or running around the edge of pools. Slips and falls on concrete can cause serious injury.

Will Appreciate Her Company

Tired. That is the reason D kept on telling us.

I called my Filipina neighbor D to join us, me and N, for a swim yesterday. D said they were at the mall shopping for some "pasalubong" (gifts) to bring in the Philippines (when they go there to live for like three years). She cannot come over to N's apartment and join us swim because she was tired. I told her that she can just chill and relax on one of the pool chairs if she does not want to swim. In fact, the pool is only four minutes away from her apartment. D still refused.

Aahh! Why force a person to mingle with us if she/he does not want to? Okay I understand, but a quick company shall be appreciated if she went and met us. So, N and I went swimming at their apartment's pool and spa without D. My husband and N's joined us in the pool when they came home from work. We enjoyed it.
