Belated Birthday Party and New Meet Up

Pink Hydrangea
Happy belated birthday to our dear friend.  She and her husband are back in the US for the latter's medical concerns.  Glad my cousin and I were able to get together with her the other day and had a belated birthday party for her. Also, we got to meet new Filipina  who happens to be residing in a neighboring town.   Her son was my niece's classmate from Kindergarten.

It was a joyful day.

A Very Lovely Surprise From My Cousin

An orchid plant.
I was very surprised one day my cousin came over to give me this lovely orchid plant.  From our previous get-together we talked about getting an orchid.  We love how beautiful their flowers are and caring for them is easy.

It was a nice surprise for me.  I put the orchid on the entry way table by the front door.  And it is looking very pretty.  I truly appreciate my cousin for this special gift.

New Digital Camera For My Sister

I received a message from my sister-in-law letting me know that the packages I shipped to them and to my parents were delivered.  And she was thanking me for the belated Christmas gifts and other goods for the family.  I was also thankful that they packages were delivered without any issues.

One of the items I put in the package was the graduation present for my baby sister who, at the time of the shipment of the package, was graduating from college.  My dear husband and I gave her a new digital camera because we knew she enjoys taking pictures.  Of course, we sent her some other nice things too.

This morning while we were chatting on Facebook, she sent me a few of the pictures she took with the new digital camera.  She liked how great the features are and the focus is nice.  So I am sharing these pictures.  I really liked them, too.

Weekend Snapshots: Na-Na And Paw-Paw's Flowering Plants

My darling daughter and I went to visit her grandparents this week.  We spend the nights Wednesday and Thursday.  When we arrived Wednesday afternoon, the folks were at the back porch.  Mom was picking flowers and Dad was tending the backyard.  Oh what a lovely time to spend in the backyard looking at these colorful flowers of different shapes and sizes.  I felt so relaxed after a long drive.

Weekend Snapshot: Digitalis or Foxgloves

Digitalis
It is Mother's Day and my dear husband bought some presents for me and his mom.  The folks are here to visit and celebrate Mother's Day with us.  Darling daughter is very glad also that her grandparents are here.

Aside from Mother's Day greeting cards, my dear husband bought balloons and this strange-looking flowering plant.  When my mother-in-law looked at the tag, she said it's called Digitalis.  It needs full sun to shade.  Good.  I hope it will survive.  I'll do my best to take care of it.

Weekend Snapshots: Spring In The Yard

Weed flowers.
These pretty little blooms are from the weeds in the yard.   My dear husband called me and darling daughter to show these flowers before he mows them.  I told him not to mow the purple ones shown on the left.  They're located by the bushes which faces the road.  The white weed flowers and the single blue flower shown on the right are scattered everywhere so he has to mow them.

Although these are weed flowers, they look really pretty and colorful.

Mom's Special Day

We are at the in-laws house today for a visit.  It's my mother's-in-law birthday weekend and the family's getting together. Whenever there's a special occasion, my parents'-in-law sometimes host the event.  It is always nice to see family.  The kids enjoy playing together in the backyard.  The food is great.  Although the temperature drops, the house feels warm and comfortable. Mom's bouquets smell good around the house and they really pretty.

I admire how my husband's parents take care of their home and lawn.  The flower gardens look colorful and grass is green and healthy.  I love being at my parents-in-law's place.  :)

Snapshot On The Spot: Fresh Flowers Refreshens The Home

I thought I would share this flowers that I bought today.  I missed putting fresh flowers in the house and now I got the chance to grab a bouquet from the grocery store.  The flowers were not that expensive compared to others.  Maybe because they are just the common types.  But still, they look beautiful to me.  Putting fresh flowers in the house makes our homes look refreshing and relaxing too.  It doesn't matter if the flower arrangement is not that great.  I love flowers anyway.

Long Weekend For Labor Day Holiday

It is another great weekend for us.  Long weekend because of the Labor Day holiday.  We are visiting my husband's parents right now and we are planning to have rib-eye steak for dinner tonight.  Woohoo!  My husband haven't eaten steak in a while. Of course, my family is having great fun here in Tyler again.

After I finished packing for our trip yesterday, my daughter and I went outside for a stroll.  While she was having a great time riding on the swing, I enjoyed taking photos of the beautiful colors in my front yard.  Here are some of the pictures I took trying to use Macro feature in my digital camera.  I guess I did a good job. :)

The Front Yard Garden

We went to the home and garden store to buy some flowering plants and vegetables for our garden.  I saw plenty of colorful flowers but couldn't make up my mind on what to pick.  My husband suggested to get the same ones that we planted last year but this time in different color.  Below are some flowers I considered buying.

Yellow Cosmos
Orange Cosmos

The flower bed
My husband bought 10 sacks of garden soil for the vegetable garden.  Depending on the weather, we water the garden at least three times a week.  Plant food like Miracle Gro has to be given twice a week.  If good rain comes, we don't water too often.  I will post some pictures of the vegetable garden in the next posts.  The string beans have sprouted along with the cucumbers too.  We have high hopes for the garden this year.

Weekend Snapshot: They Are Blooming Again

I noticed since the Fall came, my miniature roses started blooming again.  If I remembered it right, they were honey's gift to me on Mother's Day last year.  I thought I won't be able to keep the roses growing and blooming because of the summer heat.  But with regular watering, they survived up to now.  And they are giving me flowers everyday :)  I love roses!

So They Can Sprout

Me and my family stopped by at Home Depot to get some tomato seeds. My honey wants to start planting them so they can sprout and ready for transfer in the plot after the last freeze. He also bought pots for my herb seeds (from hometownseeds.com).

There are different types of flowering plants in the store too. I sure wanted to buy a couple but our flower bed is not ready yet.
