Dim Lighting For The Bedrooms

I bought this Tiffany multi-colored floral table lamp from an online garage sale last year for $12.  It is 12 inches high and the shade is 6 1/2 wide.  The metal base is quite heavy and the shade is very solid. It looks really neat in my guestroom for dim lighting. 'Looks cute, too.

If you want dim lighting in your bedrooms, you might want to consider buying a Tiffany lamp.

Decorating Ideas For a Shared Bedroom

Just like adults, kids consider their bedroom to be a personal retreat. They want the decor to be reflective of their personality. They also want to have furniture and specifically defined spaces that are conducive to their interests and hobbies. When two children share a room, you have to be creative with the room decor and design in order to provide a personally defined space for each child.

Bunk Beds

The designs and styles of bunk beds for kids have progressed far beyond the basic twin over twin design. If the kids sharing the room are of different ages, a twin over full bunk bed design is a nice choice. The older child will appreciate having the larger bed. A twin over twin typically works well for children who are close in age.

You can find bunk beds in twin over twin or twin over full designs that have storage space incorporated into their design. Anytime you can gain storage space in a shared room, you increase your chances of being able to keep the room uncluttered and organized.

Defining personal space

A key factor in defining personal space for each child can be the way the furniture is arranged. If your only option for bed placement is against the wall, there are a few ways to make each level of the bed a personalized space. You can display their name in a creative way on the wall beside of their portion of the bed. Wall decals that depict their special interest can define the space. Chalkboard paint on the wall that the bed is placed against gives each child an opportunity for creative self expression. 

If possible, you can place the bunk bed at an angle to create two somewhat separate areas in the room. Each child can decorate their side of the room in a way that reflects their personality. With a semi-divided room, you might be able to create a unified play area for the kids to enjoy.

When kids are sharing a room, it's helpful to use neutral colors for the overall decor. The accessories that you place in the room can be selected to coincide with each child's favorite color. Decorating a shared bedroom can be challenging, but having an extensive variety of bed designs and styles to choose from makes the challenge less stressful.

The Holidays are fast approaching and I cannot wait to put our Christmas decorations up.  But I cannot start until after Thanksgiving Day.  I am shopping for new Christmas tree ornaments.  My daughter and I are planning to change the color theme for the tree this year.  And, maybe, we will buy a new tree next month.

For the front door Holiday decor, I saw this red wreath at a garage sale.  I thought of buying it but I recalled I have my own Christmas wreath in the attic.  I will just hang it again next month.  Although red is my favorite color, I will just stick to my own wreath.  I think mine is prettier. :) Don't you think?

And So Our Christmas Tree Is Up!

Hello everyone!  It's December 1 and my family is helping me decorate the house for the Holidays.  See how my little one put the Christmas balls?  She was very excited about this decorating thing soon as I told her that we are putting up our Christmas tree this year.  And so, our Christmas tree is up!

I have to make a wreath for the front door.  My daughter and I will go to Hobby Lobby maybe this weekend.  And I still have to look for nice Christmas decorating ideas.

I Want A New Area Rug

As I was cleaning my dining area this afternoon, I thought something must be replaced.  Oh, no...not the dining furniture or fixtures.  It's the area rug that I want to get rid of.  It looks old and been in the house for years.  I asked my husband if we can buy a new area rug soon.  He said we have to wait a little while for the budget to come.

I hope I can find a very nice rug with a very affordable price on garage sales soon.  

Wall Art For My Living Room

Now I am starting to buy some good stuff for the house.  I mean, for home decor.  My cousin and a friend introduced me to this online garage sale on Facebook.  In this group, members post their unwanted items such as home decor, household stuff (kitchen electrics, chinaware, flatware, utensils, and even appliances), accessories, furniture and fixtures, and clothing (men, women, babies, and big kids) selling for lesser value.  And if you try bargaining really low, you're lucky to get the item if the seller agrees to the the price you want it for.  I haven't been to actual garage sales since I got pregnant.  So I missed great bargains on quality stuff.  :)  But in this online garage sale, it's like going to one in the comfort of my own home.

I already bought four wall art panels for my living room.  They're made out of shells.  I liked them because there's the oriental look on them.  They are still looking excellent and pretty.  Dear husband is going to hang them on the wall this weekend.  ;)

I thought I would share this flowers that I bought today.  I missed putting fresh flowers in the house and now I got the chance to grab a bouquet from the grocery store.  The flowers were not that expensive compared to others.  Maybe because they are just the common types.  But still, they look beautiful to me.  Putting fresh flowers in the house makes our homes look refreshing and relaxing too.  It doesn't matter if the flower arrangement is not that great.  I love flowers anyway.

Weekend Snapshot: Rods And Curtains

As mentioned, I am focusing on home decoration this year.  It has been two years and I haven't done anything for my home.  My attention was completely with my bundle of joy but now, I can say that it is time to do a little home make-over. I do not have great skills in home decor but I am trying to do my best here.  First, I bought some curtain rods and curtains.  Curtains makes a room look a lot different.  As you enter the room, you feel lighter and you will see it even neater.

So today I asked my husband to hang the curtain rods in the master's bedroom and in the guest room.  The master's bedroom has two windows and the guest room has one.  The dining area has two windows too.  But I only bought three curtain rods because I want to start with the bedroom windows first.  Looking at distance and height to see if they're proportioned is more difficult than drilling holes on the wall.  My husband tried his best to make it right.  And he did a good job.  :)

I picked these curtain rods because they look pretty to me.  What attracted me to these rods was the crystal thingy on the ends.

Party With Purple And Pink

Another baby shower party was held this weekend at a friend's house.  This time, I wasn't one of the hosts.  And again, it was a surprise Baby Shower Party.  We just love throwing parties like baby showers, birthdays, and special occasions such as Halloween and Bridals.  

Besides the accessibility, my friend's house has a bigger area for a gathering.  With the decoration prepared by our other girl friends, the house looks really pretty and welcoming.  I admire her because she is good with home decorating and gardening.  Whenever I get the chance, I ask her for some gardening ideas too.  In the Spring next year, hopefully, I will be able to maintain a garden with lots of blooms.

Anyway, here's some of the Baby Shower Party decor and activities.  The party's color theme is pink and purple.  So some of us were wearing pink clothes and others were wearing purple.

Of course, I had my picture taken with these well-arranged balloons by LP.

This is the winning ribbon that went around the waist of the mom-to-be.  Just about a quarter inch longer.  Three winners including me.

I think it says, "We are flowers of one garden."

Putting my quarter in the Baby Bear bank because I said one's real name.  It's for the "Don't Say My Name" game (our version of the "Don't Say Baby" game.

It was another successfully organized party.  Lots of food.  And we also met a new Filipina friend.

Took A Long Time Shopping

Tomorrow's Halloween and I just bought some candies today.  I don't have real pumpkins for decoration or anything but I have home decor and a center piece.  There are small scarecrows that I bought from Walmart but my little cousin took them home the other day when she came over for the visit for play a play time with my darling daughter.

It took me a long time shopping for a Halloween costume.  Actually, I spent about a couple of months looking for a costume for my darling daughter.  It wasn't easy because I had to see what's cute and cheap Halloween costume for toddlers.  Gladly, the costume that I have been watching for some time now was sold at Walmart and I got one for $7.95.  Not bad for a one-time wear huh?

So we're ready for the kids' Trick or Treat tomorrow.  There are lots of treats to give to every child who knocks at the door.

Affordable Home Goods

New decorative pillows

I went shopping for home decor few days ago at Kohl's.  The store has been my favorite shopping place lately because of low-priced items on baby clothes and shoes.  In addition, I find their home goods very affordable too. 

When I was looking around I saw these two throw pillows.  I thought they are great for the incoming season-Fall.  Unfortunately, there were only two of them left on the shelf.  I like the colors and the material is soft.  They won't scratch my baby's skin because she likes rubbing her face on pillows.  I just need to learn home decoration and get ideas from my friends here or even from online home decor websites.  I want my home to look simple but attractive.

Unique Decor

I went to see my doctor today.  This appointment was only for consultation.  I will be having procedure (minor surgery) on Friday and today, I was given the instructions and reminders.  Yes, I am 100% sure of this.

Whenever I go to doctor's offices or even in corporate offices, I never missed the chance to look at the office setting.  I always admire the interior decorations.  Paintings, wall hangings, and fixtures fascinate me a lot.  I bet it costs a lot to get all those office decor.

The photo was taken while I was waiting for my turn at the front desk.  The above wall decor really got my attention.  I like how they are made.  So unique and colorful.  There are lots of home decor ideas you can get at a corporate office or at the doctor's office.  You will be amazed how nicely these ideas will come into action and applied to your home.

Easter Weekend At Parents' House

We are in Tyler for Easter weekend.  Baby is happy to see her grandparents again.  My mother-in-law has a lot of Easter decor in her house.  Easter bunnies on display everywhere.  So nice to look at and very neat.

I admire my mother-in-law for having a wide-range ideas on theme decor for the home.  She said she will help me work with the projects in my house.  That would be very wonderful.
