New Water Heater

During the holidays, we had a major repair in the house. It started when my husband detected water on the floor by the sink. He thought DD or me spilled some water accidentally on the floor. He even called me just to ask about that. But the water on the floor continued to flow.

My husband checked under the sink but there was no sign of leak anywhere under there. He even removed the dishwasher but he didn't see any sign of leak there either. The water was coming from under the sink cabinets. So he bore a big hole where the hot and cold water were connected. And sure thing the pipe for he hot water was leaking.

The professional plumber he contacted did a great job fixing the leak. But we had to replace the water heater. All these repairs happened during the Holiday season.

Satisfied With The Professional Plumbing Service

When he got home one evening, my husband noticed water on the kitchen floor by the sink.  He called and asked me about it.  I told him it wasn't there when we left. My daughter and I was in town that day.  He said the water kept on going.  He looked under the sink but there was no water there even in the sink cabinets.  As he was checking further, my husband noticed the water was coming from under the sink cabinet.  It was raining hard that day but it couldn't be the rainwater had overflown from the house's foundation.  My husband had a bad feeling that a pipe has popped and leaking.  He removed the dishwasher and check.  There's water on the cement.  He did something to prove his suspicion about the hot water.  He made a hole on the sheet rock by the kitchen sink where the water supply to the sink is connected.  There he ran the water for a few minutes.  Then he saw that one of the pipes (for the hot water) was leaking.  When my daughter and I got home, the dishwasher was out and towels on the floor.

That happened during the Holidays.  Very bad timing.  My husband immediately looked for a professional plumbing service.  He found one and that Monday of Christmas week the plumber came over and evaluated the leak problem.  The repair didn't start until the following Monday.  We are satisfied with the plumbing service.  They finished the job in three days.

We are happy and thankful that a major repair in our house is finished. The leak is fixed.  But it didn't stop there.  We have to have the water heater replaced because the water is not getting hot like it used to be.  So after the New Year Day my husband purchased a new water heater and had it installed immediately.  We have hot water again. My husband and I are so relieved.

It was a great week this week.  Besides the pleasant weather, our AC outdoor compressor/condenser unit was fixed immediately on the day of the service call.  Now our house feels comfortably cool. A big thanks to the family-owned HVAC service here in our area.  They surely did a great job.  Fixing this type of equipment is not easy but only those who are skillful and knowledgeable can do the work.

If your air conditioning has a heating and cooling problem, contact an HVAC service right away.  And if you are living in or around North Dallas, contact Montgomery HVAC service company at www.montgomerySVC.com.

The Outdoor Central AC Unit Is Fixed

After two days of heat in the house, I am so thankful that the outdoor central AC compressor/condenser unit is fixed.  My dear husband called for service and before we left for an out of town trip this morning, a staff from the HVAC company came to check the unit.  After about an hour he said that the fan motor and the capacitor has to be replaced.  Glad it wasn't the condenser.  The estimated cost was between $300-$325 plus the service call fee of $70.

The person has to get the replacement parts and will come back to install them.  My husband came home this afternoon because my darling daughter and I were gone at noon heading to visit the grandparents.

While at the grandparents', my hubby called that the air-conditioning is running great again and it's cool in the house.  That was a good news!

Lifting The Boater's Spirits

The boatsman that needs to keep their boat up in the air to get it onto a trailer or just for repairs must be in a position to get the boat where it belongs. Sometimes, the boat must be moved in a particular way to allow for the design of the boat, and this is why the boat owner must make choices that are just for the boat so that the design is taken into account and the boat is protected at all times.

The way that a boat is lifted out of the water can be stressful on the boat and the owner, but the right boat lift makes it very easy to get the boat out of the water and allow for the boat to be safe at the same time. Regardless of whether the boat is coming out of the water and into a trailer or up to a dry dock for repairs, the boat lift has to be gentle enough to keep the boat in good shape. This is especially true when the boat is already fragile and needs to be repaired to make sure that it will float again.

Many boat owners assume that they do not need a boat lift because their local marina will already have one, but it is best to have a boat lift ready to make sure that the boat can be transported and moved easily whenever the boat owner needs to. The marina may have a boat lift, but that does not mean that the boat owner is going to be able to access that boat lift when they really want to. Rather, it is best to be prepared and give the boat owner a chance to care for their boat in a way that makes the most sense and gives the boat the best chance to be safe.

The best boat lifts are affordable and allow the boat owner to have everything they need when they are preparing to move their boat or put their boat up for repairs. Rather than getting a boat lift when the boat must be moved often, it is best for every boat owner to have a boat lift that is going to help them when they need it the most. Most people cannot imagine when they'll need a boat lift, but when they click here, they will have one that works.

Give Your Washer And Dryer A Longer Life

Taking good care of our household items can help us save money.  Why?  Because we do not have to buy replacements for a long time or pay outrageous amount for repairs and stuff.   Household appliances, for example washer and dryer, can have a longer life if we know how to treat them with care.

We can extend the life our washer and dryer--and our clothes, too--by treating our appliances with care on laundry day.  Here's how:

  • Clean the dryer's lin filter after every use.  Occasionally vacuum the chute that houses the filter.
  • Unfasten the duct from the drer at least once a year and vacuum it.
  • Cut down on drying time if your clothes consistently come out wrinkled.  That means you're overdrying.
  • On nice days, skip the dryer completely by installing and using a clothesline.
  • Avoid overloading your washing machine with comforters, rugs and large blankets.  Look in your owner's manual to learn how much weight your washer's tub can handle.
  • Balance your load.  Washers can fail when heavy loads bang around in and unbalanced machine.
  • Replace your incoming water intake hoses every five years, even if they look OK.  Older hoses are prone to bursting.
Also, we can save energy this way.

Garage Door Didn't Open

My darling daughter and I went to the library this morning for the Toddler Story Time.  I take her there every Fridays because it is a one of the good ways to help develop her social skills and get her interested with books.  After the Story Time, we stopped at Walmart to do some grocery shopping.  I bought cold stuff like milk, juice, and kids yogurt.  Then we went home after.

At the turn going to our house, I got used to pushing the button of my garage door remote controller in the car.  But suddenly, it didn't open.  I tried again.  Didn't open.  I thought the batteries of my garage door remote control was drained.  So I entered the code in the panel.  Still the garage door didn't open.  I tried a few times but had no luck.  When I called my honey, he told me to try inputting the code again.  There was no response from the garage door.

The front and back doors are locked in the inside (they have dead bolts).  Windows are locked too.  I had no choice but to go to my cousin's house and had the cold items temporarily placed in her fridge until my honey comes home.  He got home early and found a way to get in the house.  When the everything was fixed, my darling daughter and I went home.  My honey said that the garage breaker got tripped.  One reason is when there's an often power outage due to bad weather conditions.

It was really a disappointing and scary situation.  Thanks God it's fixed.  But there's another problem that needs a solution very soon.

Bathroom Problem

Now we have a problem.  The rubber seal in the shower room has already given up.  My husband is kind of pissed off because we are getting closer to our departure for our upcoming vacation and problems like this one comes up.  Now we have to get it fixed before we leave.   Hah!  It's always something.

Fixed Home Equipment And Appliance

So the microwave oven is fixed.  My husband came home from work with new fuse.  He replaced fuse in the microwave.  For two days, it was an inconvenience for me to use the traditional oven to heat food for lunch and dinner at that time.  Gladly my hubby found out the problem and fixed it this evening while my baby and I were gone to a Bible Study.

The kitchen appliance is eight years old and, I think, it needed some maintenance.  We are not ready to buy new appliances for the house right now.  There are plenty of things in priority.  So the thought of replacing new microwave oven is, maybe or will be in the next few years.

We had three solved problems as far as home equipment is concerned.  The air-conditioning is working properly because there were parts replaced.  The leaking roof was fixed because a roofer replaced some shingles correctly.  And, the microwave oven is functioning great now because new fuse is installed.

High-Tech Tools

My husband is skilled in wood works.  He made a toy box for his nephews few years back and it came out very nice.  Now he is planning to make one for our daughter soon.  He is also a good painter.  In fact, he painted our daughter's nursery room last year.  And it looked very pretty.

Besides my husband, I admire skilled men especially skilled workers like my father and brother-in-law.  My father and brother-in-law worked as construction workers back home.  They were among those of the hired men who worked on road construction several years back.  They also did carpentry.  Up to now, they accept part time carpentry jobs.  Though my father did not have high end construction tools, he always does a very good job.

When I got here in the US, I saw high-tech construction tools in stores.  I thought of my father whenever I see them.  He would be very happy if he has tools like these.  Even in small construction work in the house, these tools are of great help.  It is big advantage for workers like my father and brother-in-law to own tools like these.  My husband already owns home construction tools.  And he is proud that he can fix simple maintenance problems around the house.

Problematic Night

What a problematic night.  All of a sudden the air-conditioning in our house is not working properly.  When my husband got home from work, he complained about the house being warm.  So he turned on the ceiling fan and adjusted the temperature of the air-condition.  Okay, so when he left for the grocery store to buy milk for our daughter, I noted that the air-con is running.  My husband was away for about 30 minutes and the air-con is still running that made me concern.  So I turned it off.

As soon as he came back from the grocery store, I told him that the air-conditioning kept on running for 30 minutes while he's gone.  And still the house is warm.  So, he found out that something's not right with the compressor.  After few minutes working outside or at the attic, the air becomes cool again.  Geez, it is always something.  The roof was fixed and now we have to call for service for the air-conditioning.  Bills coming again.

Leak Problem

Here is that leak in the guest room's ceiling.  We are very frustrated.  The builder came over a week ago and checked the rooftop.  He suggested a roofing guy to fix the problem.  When the roofing guy came and as soon as he climbed up the roof and looked at the area, he said something is not right.  So this morning he came back and climbed up the roof again replacing some, I am guessing, shingles.  Hopefully there is no more leaks somewhere because leaks can do a big damage in the house.

Clogged Tub Drain

The bath tub in the the guest bathroom is clogged.  Again.  My honey said it might be because of hair.  I admit that take a shower in the guest bathroom.  It does not mean that I do not like our master's bath but, I like the pressure of the shower in the guest's bath better.

Last night I poured a liquid agent in the drain.  I waited 15 minutes for the agent to take effect.  After that I ran hot water to flush the chemical for five minutes.  I do not think there's a difference in draining like before.  Ah!  So frustrating.  I have to redo the process tonight when my husband gets home.  Or, I will just let him do it. :)

Maintaining a home needs patience and money.  Of course a little knowledge in plumbing, electrical, engineering and the like.

Maintenance Tips for your Patio Furniture

The best thing about having a well furnished outdoor is that it gives the family the chance to just come together and have fun. During the summer and spring season, barbecue and other outdoor parties are extremely popular. So if you are the type of person who loves to organize social gatherings with friends and families then it is only vital to invest on some important outdoor pieces such as patio furniture.

Choosing the right type of material for your patio furniture is also important. Some people might go for a plastic material because it is cheaper than the other types offered in the market. But the thing with plastic material is that it does not have that classic look so the best choice is to go for a wood type of patio furniture. In any type of home care, maintenance is very important in order to make sure that it well kept in good condition and will last for a longer period of time.

So how would you take care of your wooden patio furniture? The first thing that you need to remember: wood is a very sensitive type of material and special care is needed especially since it the furniture are placed outdoors and are subjected to weather changes.  Weather-proof your patio furniture by applying a sealant this will prevent the wood to absorb water especially during the rainy season. Sanding the rough or damaged spots then re-application of sealant is also necessary especially when you start to see chipped spots.

During the winter time, it is best to store your patio furniture and protect it from the cold weather. The freezing temperature can cause a major damage in your wood patio furniture as it could affect its appearance and quality. Experts would also recommend resealing your wood furniture at least once every three years.

Mia currently works as a freelance writer. Among her favorite topics include travel,

gulvafslibning a project which is all about floor sanding.

Why Choose Full Coverage Auto Insurance For Your Vehicle?

When it comes to money, people get thrifty.  We do not indulge ourselves into unwanted expenses.  And we never take for granted any possible savings.  We plan for our future and we prepare for what lies ahead.  In general, it is our nature to secure our lives-in good insurance.  Like what we all know, becoming financial stable is difficult unless you already acquired some wealth.  But ordinary people strive to keep a financially balanced life.  Like what I said, any possible savings are not taken for granted particularly in auto insurance.

Owning a vehicle is like having a house.  You maintain and insure both.  Unlike every thing else, getting a full coverage auto insurance is very important to us vehicle owners.  It will save you more money than a single coverage policy.  Aside from that it is necessary for us to have full coverage insurance to protect the vehicles we have invested.

In obtaining full coverage insurance you must purchase a policy.  The longer policy you get the lesser monthly rates you will pay. Insurance companies also offer discount for longer coverage policies in any range of you payment you choose by monthly, twice a year and per year.  You must be aware also the minimum and maximum coverage of your policy, though normally you do not want to utilize your auto insurance coverage only if you are in difficult situation.  Your auto insurance will always make it simple for you. However it is also important to know your deductibles, so you will not be surprised when fixing the damages in case of an accident.

Choose the best auto insurance.  Because of close competition with insurance companies, they always have something for you to offer that is more favorable in your side. Cheap-auto insurance.com gives you free quotes online to make it more accessible and easier-to-understand policy.  It will lead you to the cheapest policy that offers all you need in a full coverage auto insurance.

Start Saving Water Now

Back home, we have always taught to conserve water. Whenever there is a leak somewhere in the water pipe that leads to the faucets, my father will fix it immediately to avoid wasting the water. And when we do the laundry, we do not let the water running while rinsing the clothes. We have enough containers to store the water for emergency use.

Saving water can also be done in the bathroom. You should not let the water pouring from the shower longer than you bathe. And, you should have a dual flush toilet in your home. Dual flush toilets have the advantage of reducing the monthly water bill. There are many ways how to save water but these are a few that you might want to practice at your homes.

Imagine how many thousand gallons you can save in year if you start saving water NOW? You can do it if you have the sincerity and dedication to do so.

Door Lock And Shower Knob

My honey did some repair job in the apartment-the front door lock and the shower knob. The shower knob is broken that is why the water kept on dripping. The front door's lock does not slide all the way into the hole. So he went to Lowe's and bought a rust removal spray, and a new knob for the shower. Now we can lock the door very securely. The shower? Dripping no more.

Online Customer Support Is Available

It was Spring last year when we moved here in the apartment. Everything was organized smoothly even though we have to drive 1 1/2 hours bringing almost all of our belongings and appliance from the house in Nevada (Texas). We were glad that our unit has laundry washer and drier connection.

One time I encountered an unusual problem with the washer. Suddenly, it stopped operating in the middle of the wash. I was so worried because I have no idea what was going on. So I called my honey at work and told him what happened. He told me to check the manual about it. I looked for the washer's manual but I could not find it. It was very disappointing because time was consumed looking for that manual. I was so helpless. After an hour of searching, I found the user's manual at the bottom of the other reads and manuals. I read the troubleshooting pages but I did not find the specific reason why the washer stopped suddenly. Looking on the Internet did not come into my mind so I dug through our piles of booklets and papers.

Then my honey called telling me maybe the washer overheated (I loaded three batches of large quantities of laundry) since it was a very hot day. Plus, I loaded the whites and had set the washer in hot water. That maybe the reason. Whatever it was, it is very good to have a user's manual ready at any time. Any appliance or equipment needs to have an assistance ready even if is just a troubleshooting or minor repairs like coffeemaker, electric fan, and mosquito magnet repair. Those are only small matters but needs attention once in a while. This is how online customer assistance help us in quick troubleshooting or repair on our priced appliance and home equipment.

Bills And Repairs

Bills, bills, bills. This is the time of every month when high amount of household bills are prepared for payment. Agh.

Now there is a huge house repair coming. One of the vent pipe on the roof of the house (leased) is leaking. The renters called Saturday morning (when it was raining heavy) and said there was a leak in the ceiling. My honey did not expect that there is something wrong with the vent pipe. He will call the builder tomorrow about the repair. We do not have idea how much would be the repair cost. Ah, life.
