Severe Weather Is Heading Our Way And Storm Chasers On The Road

It's a lazy day today. Some severe weather is supposed to head our way this evening with possible tornado and hail.  Hopefully not. I have a storm anxiety and it scares me. Hopefully these are just passing storms and will not last all night.

Storm chasers are on the road now.  Stay safe, North Texas!

It's A Pajama-Kind-of-Weather Today

It was raining all afternoon, thank goodness.  It was pouring. The weather is so nice that I was feeling very lazy and sleepy all day. I sat on the back porch while sipping hot coffee after lunch while watching and listening to the heavy rains pouring down.  The temperature wasn't that cold, but I felt more comfortable with socks on.

How about you? How was the weather in your area today?

Weekend Snapshots: Clovers, Sunset

Clovers in our flower beds.
It's my day off today.  The plan was to visit my cousin and her kids this afternoon but when I called my cousin she said they were still in town.  They'll be home around 4:00 P.M.  Well, I decided to just stay home.  It's raining all day anyway so my daughter and I just kind of hung out by ourselves at home. There was a flood warning and a tornado warning in our area (Collin County), too.

We waited for the rain to stop and when it did, we went outside to play for a while.  When the rain started to pour again, we went back inside the house and watched our favorite movies.

When we were outside the house, my daughter and I checked on the roses.  Then we pulled out some weeds - mostly clovers.  And this evening, a beautiful sunset became visible after the rain.

Sunset.  View from my front porch.

Winter Storm Brought Ice And Sleet

It's ice, not snow. :)
Today was super cold.  It's below freezing temperature all day.  Due to the winter storm we are getting these ice and sleet here in Texas today and tomorrow.  Is this the last freeze prior to Spring?  I'm not sure.

Anyway, my dear husband didn't have to work today so it's a 3-day weekend for him. :) We went outside to let DD play a little while.  My honey's truck is covered with ice and there are icicles on the window panes.  He said there's a forecast of possible snow in the morning.  We'll see.

Dense Fog

Fog
It's a foggy day today.  Actually, it started coming last night.  There's a dense fog warning so driving in this condition is very dangerous especially in the evening.

I thought it'll clear up today. I will go out to do some errands sometime this afternoon.  I almost forgot that I have a package to ship.

A Breezy Afternoon At The Playground

I had no idea how breezy and cool it was today until my darling daughter and I stopped by to spend some time in the playground after the story time at the library.  I didn't have a sweater on.  I saw moms and children wearing their jackets having fun playing in the playground while I was shivering cold.  Good thing I had DD's jacket in the car.  So I put it on her so she won't get cold while running around the playground playing tag with other kids as the breeze was blowing so cold on our faces.

That's always my problem - being forgetful.  I keep forgetting to leave an extra jacket in the car for me to use when the weather suddenly gets cold.  I hate myself for that.  Situations like that makes me uncomfortable. *sigh*

But I let my daughter play for about an hour and a half because she has been asking me about going to the playground.  Somehow I was feeling happy because she's having a great time playing, swinging, and sliding.

Something Big Rolled Towards The Trees

It was a gorgeous day all day today...bright and warm except it's very gusty.  My dear husband went to the store.  Me and my daughter were just about done with our meals when out of nowhere, I saw something big rolling towards the trees in our backyard.  I looked out the window to take a closer look and it was a trampoline.  When my husband came back, I told him that our neighbor's trampoline was blown by the wind.  At first I thought it was the neighbor's beside us, but it wasn't.  The trampoline belongs to the neighbor's 4th house from across the street.  Sure that was a strong wind gust!

He saw something really upsetting.

My dear husband went to check on it immediately.  He helped the neighbors take the trampoline back to them.  When he came back, he told me that he was sorry about the puppy.  I guess the owners tied it the puppy's chain around the pole of the trampoline.  And when the strong wind blew, he got  dragged and hit several times.  That was very tragic.  We feel sorry for the chihuahua.  :(

Weekend Snapshots: Bird, Drawing

Although it was foggy the other and rainy today, we still had a great time outdoors.  My daughter went to the library to borrow books and DVDs.  But before heading there, she wanted to do drawing on the driveway.  She saw her wet chalks.  She did a few drawings of me, her cousins, and daddy.  So funny because her drawings look like aliens.  :)

DD said it's me.  It looks like a Power puff girl.

A bird on the topmost part of the tree.
I took a couple snapshots:  DD's drawing and a bird singing on the top of the tree.  She's the only one singing and really brought cheer to me on a gloomy foggy day.

The photos were kinda blurry because I only used my mobile phone's camera.  Unimpressive.

Good Thing It Didn't Rain Sunday And Monday

Good thing it didn't rain Sunday and Monday or else we could've got stuck with thick ice, freezing temperature, and no Internet connection.  It was VERY cold three days ago and the lowest temperature was 15F and the highest was 25F and stayed that way the whole day Monday.  We just stayed home and lit the fireplace again.  I wasn't feeling well, though, because I had abdominal cramps (I hate!).  Thanks to my dear husband for cooking supper and taking care of DD and me (I love him!).  We were bundled up to stay warm.  Winter clothes are very handy.

Though it's quite raining today, it is not very cold to the point that it'll freeze.  Good thing because if it did rain last Sunday and Monday, I guess we're still waiting for the melting and the internet connection is frozen too.

Please Help!

This is the most horrible and damaging typhoon my country have ever encountered.  Super typhoon Haiyan (local name Yolanda) hit the Philippines and made its landfall Friday morning, November 8, 2013 which is Thursday night here in the US.  I was already aware of the coming super typhoon so I called my parents.  My mother told me that everyone's in the apartment including my younger sister and her kids.  My only brother and his family evacuated to his wife's aunt's house near a school.

That Friday morning I called my mother to double check.  She told me the winds and rains arrived and they saw roofs from neighbors' houses blown away.  I told them to be safe and pray and stay together.  After that I haven't heard from them up to now.  The whole province of Leyte is black out no power and the communication is down.  I am so worried sick.

I saw news reports on television that were recorded earlier when the typhoon's landfall.  After that, black out!  News teams couldn't stream or broadcast information due to no electricity and telecommunication signals went down.  To those who were in the big cities like Tacloban and Ormoc and witnessed the devastation that morning, they were able to take photos and videos from their mobile phones and shared them to social networks.  After that, nothing followed.  No updates up to now.

No news yet from my hometown Kananga.  Our neighborhood is located between a river and a hill.  My sister and her kids live there but they evacuated to my parent's apartment downtown.  I just couldn't imagine how our neighborhood and my hometown look like now.  So many people are homeless.  No electricity, no communication, no food, no clothing.  All I can think of now is look for a way to help my family, friends, and kababayans there, especially the young ones.

Right now they need food and clothing.  I am taking this opportunity my fellow bloggers, online friends...asking for your kind donations.  That would be highly appreciated.  No man is an island.  They need help.  Monetary or in kind...it's up to you.  It will help them start a new life.

Winter Weather In Texas 2011

It's freezing cold this morning. The wind chill is getting into my bones.

When I was driving to McKinney for a doctor's appointment, I see beautiful white snow everywhere...the trees, roof tops, road sides are filled with snow. It is beautiful! Our yard was covered with snow, and, I think it is over three inches thick.

The cold weather did not stop me from taking pictures when it was snowing on Sunday. I put my green coat and boots on in addition to two layers of clothing, then my honey and I took videos and pictures outside. It's a wonderful experience every year.

I am looking forward in the coming years to play in the snow with my daughter when she grows up. I bet she will love it.

The Boots You'll Love

The weather hasn't been nice lately. It was raining with gusty winds. I have had to go accomplish some errands. It's difficult to drive on rainy days. Still I managed to go to the post office, the grocery store, and the bank.

I hate getting wet in the rain. I easily get colds. My newly bought rain boots helped a lot. The rainwater on the road did not bother me at all because my feet was covered all the way to my calves. I got compliments from other customers in the grocery store. Women's rain boots are great to wear on unpredictable weather this Fall season.

If you want to invest on good women's accessories to protect you on rainy days, get yourself a nice pair of boots.
