Severe Weather Is Heading Our Way And Storm Chasers On The Road

It's a lazy day today. Some severe weather is supposed to head our way this evening with possible tornado and hail.  Hopefully not. I have a storm anxiety and it scares me. Hopefully these are just passing storms and will not last all night.

Storm chasers are on the road now.  Stay safe, North Texas!

First Freeze Fall 2016

Sipping my coffee, I looked out in the backyard and saw white covering the ground.  I told my dear husband it snowed.  He said, "no, it's only frost." Then I remembered there was a freeze warning in effect 'til 9:00 A.M. this morning.

What a pretty sight.  I hope we will get some snow this winter in Texas.  :)

Spring Is Here Sunny And Windy - Clothing To Wear In This Weather

What a wonderful weather today. It's really nice to go out and have fun outdoors.  Plus, there's no need to wear sweaters for a few days.  Although it's sunny the whole week in Texas, the wind is blowing a little strong.  So wind breaker jackets will make you feel comfortable outdoors.  In addition to these women's spring clothes, capri shorts or lounge pants are also comfy to wear outside. For men, wind breaker jackets and pull over hoodies are also recommendable.

Don't wear a summer hat yet because the wind will just blow it away. Try to tie your hair in a pony tail if you have a long hair. It will help keep your hair in place.  Always put some lip balm and facial moisturizer on.  Our skin gets dry quickly on windy day.

Winter Wonderland In North Texas

Snow on the trees in the backyard.
So we got snow again today.  The winter storm advisory took effect at 6:00 A.M. this morning until 6:00 P.M. tomorrow, Saturday night.  We had about 2 inches of snow here in our area.  Dallas and some parts of Northeast Texas had snow up to 4 inches deep. The temperature was between 26 to 29 degrees Fahrenheit all day.

We didn't have plans to go out this morning but my darling daughter asked for Chicken and Cheese Wraps for breakfast.  I don't have them in the refrigerator so we drove to the gas station close by to buy the food that she's wanting.

A dove up high in the tree.
DD checking how deep the snow is.
Since it's below freezing temperature, I decided to buy a stack of firewood. It sells $25 at the gas station.  Pretty high priced.  I built a fire at the fireplace as soon as we got home because we were shivering cold. :)  My husband came home from work at about 1:30 in the afternoon.

The ground is all white except the roads.

Winter Storm Brought Ice And Sleet

It's ice, not snow. :)
Today was super cold.  It's below freezing temperature all day.  Due to the winter storm we are getting these ice and sleet here in Texas today and tomorrow.  Is this the last freeze prior to Spring?  I'm not sure.

Anyway, my dear husband didn't have to work today so it's a 3-day weekend for him. :) We went outside to let DD play a little while.  My honey's truck is covered with ice and there are icicles on the window panes.  He said there's a forecast of possible snow in the morning.  We'll see.

Dense Fog

Fog
It's a foggy day today.  Actually, it started coming last night.  There's a dense fog warning so driving in this condition is very dangerous especially in the evening.

I thought it'll clear up today. I will go out to do some errands sometime this afternoon.  I almost forgot that I have a package to ship.

Shopping For Mother's Day Cards

We had a very good rainfall Thursday.  It rained all day.  We needed that and we need more rain to help fill up the lakes again.  There were tornado warnings in Dallas.  There was a flash flood warning in our area.

When the rain wasn't pouring that hard at about 3:00 P.M., my darling daughter and I did a quick trip to the convenient store to buy an ingredient for the snack I planned to make that day.  Also, I bought a few greeting cards for Mother's Day to mail the next day.  As soon as we entered the store, it was raining hard again.

After shopping, we drove home...slowed down by the heavy rains and a flooded portion of the road.

Dark Scary Skies!

Dark scary skies.
This evening's weather was very scary.  See how the sky looked like? It was taken on my way home from a grocery store this evening.

I was in the store buying some ingredients for my green salad for tomorrow's lunch when my friend called and told me that a tornado warning is up at our area and a tornado just passed her town and heading town close to ours.  I was aware that there's a severe thunderstorm coming but not this tornado thing.

When I finished checking out and headed to my car, the wind was blowing like crazy and sky was so dark.  It was close to 7:30 P.M.  In the Spring and Summer, the sun sets at 9:30 P.M. the latest.  As soon as my friend hung up, I called my husband and my cousin to tell about it.

The severe weather brought hail and the tornado made two touchdowns but not in our area.  We only had rain at 10:20 P.M.  Thanks God!

Yay! We Got Some Snow Today!

It snows in Texas today.  Winter in Texas is complete experienced snow again this year.  :)  It was 17F early this morning and I didn't know it was snowing until I opened the window from darling daughter's bedroom.  I was so excited and I told DD about it.  She wanted to go out right away.  But we waited for the snow to accumulate and get thicker so I can let her make a snow angel.  And she did.  DD was so happy to see and play in the snow.

I thought we won't get any snow this year because it's already late for the winter season.  But still there's possibility because it's not Spring yet.  I bundled DD with three layers of clothing.  The third clothing on her is the winter jacket, fleece pants, snow boots, and gloves.  I was very confident that she was comfortable and the winter clothes kept her warm.  The snow flakes and cold breeze on her face made her nose run though.

But we had fun playing for a little while in the snow.  At least Mother Nature has given Texas some of her snow before the winter ends.

Darling daughter's first snow angel.

Good Thing It Didn't Rain Sunday And Monday

Good thing it didn't rain Sunday and Monday or else we could've got stuck with thick ice, freezing temperature, and no Internet connection.  It was VERY cold three days ago and the lowest temperature was 15F and the highest was 25F and stayed that way the whole day Monday.  We just stayed home and lit the fireplace again.  I wasn't feeling well, though, because I had abdominal cramps (I hate!).  Thanks to my dear husband for cooking supper and taking care of DD and me (I love him!).  We were bundled up to stay warm.  Winter clothes are very handy.

Though it's quite raining today, it is not very cold to the point that it'll freeze.  Good thing because if it did rain last Sunday and Monday, I guess we're still waiting for the melting and the internet connection is frozen too.

It Would Be So Nice To See A Deer

We are at the folks' house this weekend to visit and spend the usual weekend with my honey's parents.  We celebrated Christmas at home so we didn't come over on Christmas Eve.  As usual, our little one was very excited to see her grandparents.  They weren't able to come to DD's birthday party three weeks ago because of the winter storm that brought ice and below freezing temperature. So DD got to open her birthday and Christmas presents Friday.

Since we didn't have any particular plan yesterday afternoon, dad took us to the park because he wanted to feed the ducks.  But when we arrived, there were a few people fishing and the ducks were in the distance.  Dad didn't want to stir the ducks which will create a disturbance in the water and disturb the fishing.  So we went home instead.  On our way home, we told dad that we're going for a walk for a while.  DH, DD, and I had a little adventure this afternoon.  Well, we were just having fun walking, looking for interesting stuff.

Hoof prints of a buck and a doe.

Then DH noticed these deer tracks on the ground.  The hooves print were still fresh so the buck and the doe were kind of strolling along side of the road.  Ah, we missed them!  It would be so nice to see a deer.

We had a wonderful dinner with the folks.  Their neighbor across the street came over to have dinner with us.

Weekend Snapshots: Sleet And Icy Weather On DD's Birthday

Oh man!  Winter storm is here.  And it is bringing sleet and ice which makes it very difficult and dangerous to drive.  We got freezing rain here in Texas and the temperature dropped to 14 degrees Fahrenheit which is below freezing.  The freezing rain accumulated immediately and turned to ice overnight.  Bad timing because today is our darling daughter's birthday.  Awww...

Because there's icicles everywhere, tree limbs were broken and fell over power lines somewhere that caused power outage since 6 o'clock in the morning until 3 o'clock this afternoon.  So my husband drove us around the neighborhood to look and check.  Then we ate brunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant (thankfully they're open).  After having our meal, we went ahead and buy some firewood for the fireplace.  This is the very first time husband lit the fireplace since he bought the house in 2004. We thought, because of the very cold weather due to the winter storm, the firewood will cost a fortune.  But we only paid $20 for a big pile of oak wood.  Which is good.
Daddy lighting up the fireplace.

The birthday girl. :)

So the power was out until 3:00 P.M. this afternoon.  My husband wasn't able to roast the pork.  We told our daughter earlier that the folks are not coming over because of the bad weather condition.  But my cousin and her family was able to come over for dinner.  I quickly fixed broccoli cheese and rice, adobo, corn on cobs, and banana pudding.  My husband bought a rotisserie chicken.  Gladly my cousin and her family were able to come because DD was kind of unhappy when I told her that the guests aren't coming because of icy roads.  But as soon as I told her that Audrey and Alexis (my cousin's daughters) are coming over, her face lit up with cheer.

Even though the weather was bad, DD still had a great birthday celebration with her cousins.
Trees bent because of heavy ice.

See how heavy the ice on that tree?

Icicles.  See where the drops stopped and formed to ice.

Hail On Easter Sunday

We had hail this morning. To me, they look like the size of gumballs!  This is the second time I saw hail or hailstones here in Texas.  As you may know, hail is irregular lumps of ice falling like rain or together with rain.  I thought the weather for the whole day of Easter Sunday will be bad. But after the severe thunderstorm with heavy rains and hail, the sun showed up and it was a very pleasant warm the rest of the day. The question is, is there a damage to honey's truck?  He doesn't even want to check on it.  Hopefully, there is no damage at all.

Snowing With Thunder And Lightning

There's a thundersnow this morning. My husband called me to look at what's going on outside.  It was snowing!  First snow we experienced since we got back from a month-long vacation in the Philippines.  We missed the White Christmas in Texas so I am thankful that we, especially my daughter, have seen snow this year.  And it's my daughter's first time to experience playing in the snow too.

It is warm and comfortable inside the house because the heater has been fixed.  Though I have a plan of going out shopping today but will just postponed it until the next pleasant day.

Y'all be careful on the road right now.   Be cautious on sleet and ice.

Weekend Snapshot: Yellow Tree

What pleasant day for a walk.  My daughter and I enjoy this activity in the morning and in the afternoon whenever we get the chance, and when the weather is nice.  Surely we can feel the chill in the breeze.  Fall colors we see everywhere.  Leaves falling off the trees, and my darling daughter loves picking dried leaves on the ground.  Then she puts them in the bucket counting one by one.

I really love the colors of the leaves when it's Fall.

Weekend Snapshot: Rainy Birthday Weekend

It was my honey's birthday weekend and we were heading to his parent's house Saturday. I asked him to drive because it started raining already when we were leaving.  I am not too confident driving for hours when it is raining.  Along the way, I took a few pictures outside.

Rain drops on my window.

Cows under the trees.  Because of the car's speed, they're unrecognizable for a quick snap.

Three minutes to my in-laws' house and look how heavy the rain was.

Nasty Weather Today

Well, I did my best with organizing in the house for two days.  Despite of a severe thunderstorm in our area that causes a few power interruption, I was able to finish my laundry and baking.  I thought I would let my sister-in-law and her daughter to sleep in our bedroom tonight.  So I quickly changed sheets.  There was a pack of brownie mix in the pantry so I baked brownies immediately before the end of the day.

The weather started to become nasty late this afternoon.  My husband called and check with me and my little one.  He said it was haling in Plano.  Thank God we just had lots of rain but no hale.  Unusual for the month of June, this big rain is good.  I was thinking of going to the grocery store to buy a chuck roast for tomorrow's dinner.  Since the rain was pouring very hard, I decided to go when my husband came home from work.

My husband's mother and sister with her little girl arrived at about 9 P.M. this evening.  Good thing I got home earlier from grocery shopping.  We have lots of things to do for tomorrow's luncheon.  As usual, my little princess was very happy to see her grandma, aunt, cousin.  She almost did not want to go to bed because she wants be with Na-na.  Aw, bless her heart.

Fixed The Leaks

According to the latest weather forecast, a story system is heading North Dallas and we will be experiencing heavy rains, flooding in some areas, and strong winds on Monday.  That's scary because we have plans for tomorrow.

My honey, with the help of his dad, sprayed the house against bugs and they did some yard work today.  Just in case the rain comes, the yard is clean and he does not have to mow next weekend.  He checked the whole house for leaks.  There is one in the guestroom.  My honey fixed it by replacing the caulk in one of the the joint pipes on the roof.

Everything, at least, was fixed and taken care of this weekend.  So we do not have to think about the leaks and others when the storm comes.
