A Rose For You

It's a great day today.  The month of February is quite busy.  My child is into Spring sports and we've been quite driving around recently.  Anyway, Valentine's Day is next week.  I hope you'll feel loved and receive thoughtful Valentine's gifts from your family and friends.  Besides flowers and chocolates, I hope someone will give you a plant. 😊

Here's a rose for you.

It's 2025! Happy New Year!

Hello friends! Happy New Year 2025!  I am back.  It's been a long hiatus.  Yes. Life had been busy these couple of years. It was mostly because of school.  My darling daughter entered middle school and I had to supervise most of her school activities.  She's into two sports and our schedule was very hectic.

Anyway, I am coming back to blogging, vlogging, and product reviewing.  I missed these things.  Hopefully I will be able to balance my time this time.  Also, I realized that, blogging can be a therapy.  Yes.  I see it like that.

Wish me luck, friends.  I will do my best to keep this blog updated from time to time.

Happy New Year!  May the New Year be prosperous and optimistic for us.

Mammoth Sunflowers In The Garden

Spraying pesticide on the sunflower.

Very tall Mammoth Sunflowers.

We decided to plant a few Mammoth Sunflowers in the garden this year.  Look that these giants!  They're taller than my husband, who's 5'11.  Wow!  I can't wait to see how huge their flowers would be. It is going to be a very exciting summer gardening.

Vegetable Garden 2022 First Harvest

Japanese Eggplant

It is delightful to see our vegetable garden is looking great this year.  As you know, we haven't been getting any luck with our garden in the last three years.  So this year's harvest is pretty much a delight.

This is the only eggplant I have this year, and it is doing fantastic.  The bell peppers, jalapeños, and the banana pepper are looking great as well.  We shared some peppers to the neighbors last night.  I used the remaining ones for my stir-fry. :)

We also tried planting some tomato varieties this year.  I will tell you more about it in my next post.

Flowers Around The Yard

Zinnia

Flores de Mayo or May Flowers.  It's a beautiful day today.  My dear husband and I went outside for a walk around the yard after lunch.  Here are a few photos of flowers in our yard and garden. The Ligustrum bushes are blooming early this year.  Their tiny flowers attract bees and butterflies.  I bet they'll going to fade before Memorial Day.

Christmas Cactus In Bloom

l am very glad to share with you all that my Christmas cactus is blooming.  I didn't know until I was watering my indoor pants this morning.  It is really delightful to see our plants giving us some blooms.  I've been waiting for this to happen for a year.  :D

I bought this indoor plant from Walmart for $3.  This was actually a "rescue plant" (on clearance).  So far, it is surviving in my house. Hopefully, it will make more flowers...lots and lots of them.  :)

Happy First Day of Spring 2022

Happy First Day of Spring, everyone!  I am so happy to see these little pollinators today.  They were feeding on the dandelion flowers in our backyard.  It's so amazing to see them hogging each flower as they transfer to the other.

Love your bees.  Leave a small patch of weed flowers like this when you are mowing.

Tall Trees On Tickle Hill

My family and I had a weekend getaway in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.  Our destination was always Beaver’s Bend State Park.  We enjoyed picnicking, horseback riding, train rides, and dipping in the cold waters of the Mountain Fork River.

Recently, we found this new development a few minutes up by Steven's Gap.  It's on Tickle Hill.  The new development has a super steep one-way road.  We tried driving down and up the hill.  It was quite thrilling.  Then we did some walking down hill and up hill.  We had a great time.  Those tall trees within the area make a very nice background view.  So refreshing.  Next time we visit the development, there would be new homes or cabin for sure.  But we won't be driving up and down the hill no more.  It scares my darling daughter.  In fact, she was teary-eyed after that one drive.  But it was an unforgettable experience.

A Passing Storm While Walking At The Lake

Lavon Dam - Lake Lavon

We went for a walk at the park after dinner last night.  Suddenly strong winds picked up and storm clouds were hovering over the lake.  While darling daughter was enjoying the waves, hubby and I were watching the big storm clouds for something weird.  A spot at the bottom of the storm clouds were slowly circling.  That would be scary of it formed a funnel.  Gladly it didn't.

After about 45 minutes of walking and resting, we headed home before the heavy downpour.

My First-Time Vegetable Container Gardening

We thought of having a vegetable garden in the backyard again this year after two years of stopping it due to heavy nut grass problem.  My dear husband had treated the soil and left it untouched for two years.  Surely no nut grass came back within those times.  So this Spring we bought some starter plants of tomatoes and eggplants. I planted okra seeds and long beans seeds, too. Unfortunately, none of the starter tomatoes were growing.  Instead, they were drying up.  The okra seeds germinated but they just stopped growing. Only the long beans are currently improving their growth.  The eggplants are not doing good either.  It's very frustrating and disappointing.

I decided to try vegetable container gardening so I bought a potted tomato plant as a start.  I found this one at Walmart and, so far, it is doing great.  It is now bearing fruits.  But only one has grown and ripened so fast that I had to pick it before the spoiled birds devour it.  This is very good in salads and soups.  There are four little fruits now so hopefully they will grow and ripen at the same time soon.

If you haven't tried vegetable container gardening, now is the time to do so. I am also a beginner like you and I want to learn more.

Happy Spring 2020

I hope you have a wonderful day today. It's the first day of Spring. Signs of Spring are out to see like this first bloom of my red Petunia. So pretty.

How about you? Did you find signs of Spring in your yard today?

We Have Found What We've Been Looking For - Subaru Outback SUV

Well what do you know? Dear husband found the SUV that he's been shopping around online for.  It has the color and the features that we've been looking for.  Guess where he found it? It's in Oklahoma City. :)

Call us crazy but we drove up to Oklahoma City from Dallas this weekend to look and buy it.  We talked about this and our decision was final. We drove up there and bought the Subaru Outback SUV (pre-owned). We traded our Hyundai Elantra and finance the balance.  Our credit score came out to be in excellent standing so the interest rate is very low.

It was a one-day eight-hour trip to and from Oklahoma City on a rainy day weekend, and coming home with a newly-bought pre-owned Subaru Outback SUV.

Shopping For A Sport Utility Van (SUV)

Hello everyone! It is March already. How's your weekend been? Mine? I had a great weekend.  My family and I went to the Subaru dealer in McKinney to check a Subaru Forester we saw on their website on Friday. Unfortunately, it was not there anymore Saturday.  It has been sold already. :( Oh well.  We just have to wait for the right time and the right price for us to get a new vehicle.

Our sedan needs to be replaced by an SUV soon. So we are looking for the perfect SUV for the family.  We love traveling and we bring lots of stuff with us whenever we go on vacation. So an SUV would be awesome and we are eyeing for a Subaru SUV right now.

Handmade Winter Headband

A dear friend of mine gave each of us in our friend circle this handmade winter headband.  She made this herself. Yes, she's a very talented when it comes to handmade crafts. Her crochet skills are remarkable.

I like winter but chilly weather makes feel uncomfortable especially when it is windy.  The wind chills get me that I don't want to do errands.  This handmade winter headband is very useful because it covers my ears. I don't like wearing heavy puffy winter coats so this cold weather headband is a must-have for me.

Handmade winter headband.
If you are interested in shopping for handmade cold weather headband, check out my dear friend's store on Etsy here.  You will find lots of unique handmade creations that you will love.

Severe Weather Is Heading Our Way And Storm Chasers On The Road

It's a lazy day today. Some severe weather is supposed to head our way this evening with possible tornado and hail.  Hopefully not. I have a storm anxiety and it scares me. Hopefully these are just passing storms and will not last all night.

Storm chasers are on the road now.  Stay safe, North Texas!
