Wall Decor For Sale On Garage Sales

Since I joined this online garage sale on Facebook, I had a few disappointments.  Buying an item is not like bidding.  You have to bargain from the asking price.  And if you're lucky that the seller accepts, you are responsible to pick up the item.  If the seller wants to get the full asking price, well you have to think many times if you really need it.

I said that I had disappointments and one of them was when I expressed an interest on two wall sconces.  The seller said they are still available.  So I asked her if I can take the sconces at a lower price.  She agreed.  But then somebody expressed an interest on them and willing to pay the asking price.  The seller went ahead and sold the sconces to the second buyer.  I was so upset.  The buyer didn't even asked me.  Oh, well.  So I just waited for someone to sell wall sconces online.  After a couple of weeks, I think, someone posted her wall decor for sale.  And she had four sconces!  I commented on the photo telling her that I want those.  Of course, I offered to pay a lower price.  She hasn't responded yet.  I really like the sconces though.  We'll see...

No Recommendation

We need to shop for cheap curtain rods for the bedrooms and the living room.  Hopefully little by little my home decorating will be half way to the finish line before we go on a month long vacation to the Philippines.  Haha!  We will be having a big spending this year because of the travel plans at the end of the year.  Whew!  Just thinking about the whole thing makes me dizzy.  Plus this big unexpected bill from the roofing company.  Someone told my husband a lower cost but when we received the invoice, it's not the same.  Oh well, they will not get a recommendation from us.  That's for sure.

New Rug And Mat For The House

Okay, so as my husband told me, I bought a rug and a door mat today.  I went to Kohl's and used the $10 Coupons that I acquired from two purchases I made two weeks ago.  I had fun looking at home accents in the store.

I wasn't sure of our old rug's measurement so I picked the largest one in the shelf.  The price of the indoor rug for the entrance is $49.99.  The outdoor mat costs $24.99.  In addition to my coupons, the store have a promotion where you have to pick a scratch card for a 10, 15, or 20 percent off your total purchase.  I have picked the 15% Off scratch card.  All in all I only paid $ 16.24 (includes tax) for the items.  Not bad for a home accent like an entrance indoor rug and outdoor mat.  We needed new of those.

My next purchase will be throw pillows for the couch.  And I know where to go to shop for those.

Home Decorating Soon

My cousin and her family has moved in their new home already.  I am happy that everything went well.  She is going to be very busy.  Besides unpacking boxes full of stuff, my cousin will be decorating her house very soon.  They are only about 10 minutes away from my house.  That is very nice we will be like neighbors.

Decorating a home is not an easy task.  In my opinion, you have to consider the house's interior colors so you can decide what decor to buy and place in each area.  My family and I are back in our home for almost a year now but I have not even started putting curtains yet.  Shame on me!  I am the woman of the house so I should have ideas on how to decorate a home.

My cousin and I kept on watching hgtv.com up to now so we can get decorating ideas for our homes.  Good luck to her.  Good luck to me.  Good luck to us!

Give Your Home A Scent That Appease The Senses

One of the finest thing you can do to your home is to make it welcoming by putting some home fragrance. Besides that it is relaxing, it is calming and soothing to the senses too.

I admire those who keep their house cozy as well as giving home decorating and improvement ideas. For a first time homemaker like me, there are many things I needed to know about managing a household and decorating the home. Whenever I look and buy things for the house, I never forget to get scented items. One of my favorites are Scentsy flame-less scented candles. From over 80 fragrances, I can choose which scent I like best for my home. No wonder it became popular now.

A friend told me about Scentsy products before we moved back to our house. She is so contented with the smell and the warmers have attractive designs. I was hesitant to give it try before because I used another product. Finally, I bought a couple scented candles. They were exactly what I wanted. The scented flame-less candles give a warm feeling to my home. In addition, they help create a bright entertaining look in my house.

I hope to gain more ideas on home beautification.

Decorating Our Home

I have been thinking about this few weeks after we get back to the house-to work on decorating our home. A huge painting job needs to be done. But my honey will be in-charge with that. My plan is to make the bathroom pretty. I would like to put an ornamental plant. And it would look nice on a stainless steel polished plant stand. The kitchen area needs some organizing for sure.

I also want the living room to look interesting. There are a couple of things needing replacement. The fireplace is clean but it would look better with the blomus stainless steel fireplace accessories. Stainless steel is easy to clean. So if we use the fireplace, it wouldn't be difficult for us to cleanse the stainless steel fireplace accessories.

On the other hand, the outside of the house needs beautification too. The bushes are due for a good trim. The flower garden is waiting for new shrubs. And we might want to put a new stainless steel mailbox at the driveway.

Lots of things to do. Honestly, I have no idea when to start.

Nursery Room Preparation

After the big move, we are finally settled in the house. We are very happy back. A good timing also for the baby's coming.

As soon as we moved back to the house in October, my honey and I have planned the nursery room. We were having a baby girl so I wanted everything to be feminine. The baby's room was painted in November. With the help of family, I started buying nursery decor and baby stuff. The nursery room is not complete without furniture. My brother-in-law and his wife are so nice that they offered us their son's baby bed set.

There are many modern furniture to look at. But we decided to get a set of furniture that my honey and I like best for our baby's room. It turned out great!

On the other hand, I got something that I really like. I will tell you more about it on my review in the next post.

Redoing The Living Room

My honey and I participated on a garage sale one weekend and we found it interesting yet boring. Interesting because we got to sell old stuff and things we do not use in the house. Boring because not many visitors came to check on what we had. But we sold a few things though.

My cousin and her husband came over the next day. We walked around the neighborhood checking what other household had for garage sale. We stopped at this house with a bunch of stuff in the garage. The woman had pieces of household equipment and nursery furniture. My cousin asked why she wanted to sell the ceiling fan. "I am redoing my living room and I am looking at Victorian ceiling fans right now", she answered excitedly. "We were using that ceiling fan for years. Belt driven ceiling fans are nice though", she added.

The price for the ceiling fan was really really cheap. But there's no way, in our situation, my cousin and I can accommodate that in our homes. Going to a garage sale is fun. My cousin had a great time with us too.

Weekend Snapshot: Garage Sale Items

A neighbor knocked at our door Thursday night giving us a piece of paper saying that there is a neighborhood garage sale on Saturday and Sunday. She asked my honey if he is interested to participate. My honey turned to me and said we will put some unused things out for sale since we are getting rid of some stuff.

So today, we woke up very early to set up. I put price tags on the items and my honey arranged the heavy things on the ground. On the table are the light and cheap ones. I have a couple sweaters for sale too. They are only a $ 1.00 each. I think there are four sweaters left. I hope they will sell tomorrow. Sets of plates are still on sale for $ 20.00 per set of eight. Some knick knacks on the table are from .25 cents to a $ 1.00.

Here's what we have sold today:

Items

Microwave oven - $ 6.00
Glass decor (set of 3) - 3.00
Decorative plate - 2.00
Small cabinet -3.00
Rug (large) -15.00
Picture painting -3.00
Wall Mirror (medium) -5.00
Coffee maker -2.00
Phone (with cord) - .50
Sweater -1.00
Bead bracelet -.50
Lampshade (set of 2) -5.00

We do not have that much to garage sale but we want to get rid of the things we're not gonna use. What's nice is that we got to participate in the neighborhood activity for the first time.

My pregnant cousin and her husband will come over for a visit. She said she might go look for garage sales too.

Redecorating The Windows

It is official. We are moving out of this apartment in two months. Hopefully, we will be in our house before my delivery date comes.

As early as now, my honey and I are already thinking of redecorating the house especially the nursery room. We talked about repainting, replacing the old lighting, and changing window decorations. Of course that includes curtains, draperies, hardware, etc.

My mother influenced me on putting window curtains. Curtains give a good feel in the home. My mother lives too far away to help me with the decorating, so I looked at curtainworks.com to get some ideas about window decor that will suit the look of my house. They have a wide variety of ready-made curtains at competitive prices. Where do you shop for
curtains, drapes, hardware for your window? Please share your shopping tips.

If you are into decorating your home, especially this coming holiday season, curtainworks.com has
curtains, drapes, hardware for your window.

House Beautification And Home Improvement

Now we are in the middle of thinking on moving again soon. We need a bigger space because an addition to the family is coming. This time we might, yes we might, move back to our house.

Our house is still rented but, hopefully, we can go back there early next year. Though there is no definite status yet, my husband and I are already talking about house beautification...things like that. We have to repaint the outside. There are some things in the house that needs replacement. I want to replace the chandelier in the kitchen with a brighter one. The bulbs are kind of dim to me. I want a brighter home lighting so I can see the things easily, you know.

My friends suggest to look for crystorama lighting. They have a variety of home lighting collection that fits to theme of the house. I am so excited about this thought. My husband likes the idea too.

Christmas Decor And Ornaments

My decor was from a garage sale in summer of last year. Our tree was bought from Walmart, which we found very affordable. I really do not have a color theme for my Christmas tree. Whatever decor is available in the house, I am using it. The tree has colored Christmas light so ornaments with different styles and colors can go with it.

In addition to the balls and assorted ornaments, I also have two large balls from work. The first one is from last year. It is navy blue and has two turtle doves on it. The second ball is white and has three french hens. I guess I missed the first ball with a partridge on it two years ago. Anyway, I hope to serve more years in the company so I can still collect the eleven balls of the Twelve Days Of Christmas.

Blossoming Into Style

Everybody is doing their Spring cleaning. Well, I am too. Serious. I am not kidding. Though there is a little bit of laziness in me, a general cleaning needs to be done at home right now. Plus, our apartment needs some tidying up. Besides, I want to get new stuff for the home. Particularly new bedding and linens.

I am not saying that I am tired of using our current bedding. They are all pretty still. But we all know that Spring season brings new home accent ideas to us. That includes making our bedroom blossoming into style. And we get the good deals on home furnishings from shopping guides online. Selected stores are offering free shipping too. So the opportunity is worth the grab.

How about you? Are you done with your Spring cleaning?

Scent For My Potpourri

Here is my own potpourri. These are from the bouquet of roses my honey gave me on Valentines' Day. They have red tips petals. When the flowers started to wither, I let the petals fell. Then I dried them naturally until they were stiff enough to become potpourri.

I am looking for oils with floral scent to complete my potpourri project . Unfortunately, I have not seen the scent that will match it so the search is still going on. I am so picky.

What can you suggest?
