Who's Celebrating His Birthday Tomorrow?

Oh dear, I have lots of things to do. It is honey's birthday tomorrow.  My in-laws will be coming over too.  Ayayay!  

On the other hand, baby and I went to the mall and bought a gift at men's accessories department.  Then I took baby to the play area so she can have a good time with other kids.  And she did.  I thought honey is still at work but he was already at the grocery store when I called.  We'll be having BBQ, salad, margarita, cake...etc.  It is going to be fun.  

Well, I guess I will have to wrap the gift at midnight tonight.  And I will get stuff for my cake in the morning.

A Dog In The Front Yard

I saw a big dog at the front yard the other day while my baby and I were about to go strolling.  We were about to go to the front house from the garage when I saw the dog lying on the grass.  He looked tired and his not-so-white hair had dirt.  The dog has a dark brown collar around his neck.  Surprised and little bit scared, my baby and I strolled back in the house immediately. 

No photo of the dog was taken because I was afraid he will attack or get startled.  So I called my husband and told him about the dog.  He told me to leave the dog alone.  The dog will just walk away.  If I will offer him something like water or a bit of dog food, he might stay.  And sad to say, we are not ready for a pet yet.  The dog looked pitiful because he was panting a little.  I think he was lost. 

After lunch time, I looked by the window and the dog's gone.  Poor doggie.  I was hoping he found his way home.

Paintball Protective Gears

My brother's friend invited him to a paintball game few weeks ago.  They went to a paintball field a few miles from his place.  They had a great time.  My brother has a complete equipment and paintball gear for the game. I have no idea what the game of paintball is all about until he explained it to me.  It is like a military training game.

Inexpensive Granite Sinks

I am one of those women who loves to be in the kitchen.  I am not a good cook but I love eating. But I like experimenting new recipes though. And so there is always dirty dishes in the sink.    Frequently, I wash dishes manually.  Time will come will replace the sink with a granite sink. Because granite sinks are very scratch resistant, stain resistant and withstand heat up to 550 degrees, frequent heavy pots and dish washing manually is worry free. So it won't cost me too time cleaning the sink after each use.

The longer we live in our house, the possibility of wear and tear is undeniable.  But if you are very good in maintaining your home from the inside and out, it will likely to stay and look as new for years. Not only we take pride of good looking homes, we are also proud of how we manage to beautify it in accordance to its design.  Most women love to spend most of their time decorating the bedroom, some women like the living room, and others adore the kitchen.  I like messing around in the kitchen.  Are you among us?  What part of the house you spend the most of your time decorating?

Couldn't Scream

I was feeding my darling little girl lunch when she unintentionally dropped her sippy cup into the bowl of mush.  Her food flew out of the bowl and scattered on the dining table.  I was so annoyed.  My heart was beating so fast that I cannot even scream. I wiped off the mess immediately.  If I had let the mess sit on the table for long, white patches of cereal will stuck on the table and it will look ugly.  I had to wipe Pledge on it very well so my husband will not get embarrassed.  We have to take care of the furniture we have right now.

You might be wondering how my baby dropped the sippy cup in the bowl?  Well, the feeding chair is on the table and her food is about 12 inches away from it.  She was playing with her sippy cup while leaning towards the food.  Then she dropped it.

Home Decorating Soon

My cousin and her family has moved in their new home already.  I am happy that everything went well.  She is going to be very busy.  Besides unpacking boxes full of stuff, my cousin will be decorating her house very soon.  They are only about 10 minutes away from my house.  That is very nice we will be like neighbors. 

Decorating a home is not an easy task.  In my opinion, you have to consider the house's interior colors so you can decide what decor to buy and place in each area.  My family and I are back in our home for almost a year now but I have not even started putting curtains yet.  Shame on me!  I am the woman of the house so I should have ideas on how to decorate a home.

Weekend Snapshot: Fine Chocolate

This is my all-time favorite chocolate, Toblerone.  The chocolate is so fine, not too sweet, and it melts in your mouth.  

I remember when I was a young girl my uncle bring us Toblerone chocolates whenever he is off the ship for a vacation.  My siblings and I were very happy when we receive pasalubong from our uncle.  

Chocolates are also good for dessert.  Do you like chocolates for dessert?

You could call me a beginning vintage shopper. I've always admired people that go vintage shopping and wished that I could pull off all the looks that they do. Well now I'm really making an effort to do just that. I'm kind of learning as I go, though.

I've been using my direct tv internet to look up different tips for vintage shopping, like looking at the piece of clothing from all angles to make sure that you don't see any problems with the garment. I learned that trick from one of my favorite fashion bloggers.

I scouted out this really huge vintage store a few towns over from mine and found a couple of cute dresses there. The best part I like about shopping vintage is that I have something that's so unique for the times. I really hate it when I go somewhere and I see that I'm wearing the same thing as somebody else. Plus, it's fun to think about all the people who may have worn that stuff before you and their life stories.

Maintenance Checks Routine For A Safer Home

When I was drying clothes few weeks ago, some of them did not dry well.  The dryer was taking too long to dry clothes.  My honey check both washer and dryer.  He said a total cleaning has to be done on the dryer.  Now, it is working fine.

Did you experience the same problem with your appliance?  Well here is  what you should do to keep your dryer functioning well.  In this very hot summer time, catching fire in the home is possible.  You probably peel the lint out of your clothes dryer's lint trap after every load of laundry.  But that is not enough to keep the appliance from posing a fire hazard to your home.  Below are few more maintenance checks to your laundry-day routine

• Notice how long it takes the dryer to dry your clothes.  If they are still damp at the end of a typical drying cycle, or it it is starting to take longer to dry clothes, your lint screen or exhaust duct maybe blocked.
• Clean the dryer vent and exhaust duct at least once a year.  The duct is the coil that sends the hot dryer air to the outdoors.  The vent is the hole where the hot air leaves the house.  Both can get clogged  with lint and overheat, send dirty, moist air back into your home, or even catch on fire.  You might have to disconnect the exhaust duct from the dryer and vent to remove the blockage.
• Clean the back of the dryer and sweep behind and underneath it regularly to remove accumulated lint.
• If your exhaust duct is plastic or foil, replace it with a rigid or corrugated, semirigid metal duct.  Plastic and foil are too flexible and trap lint easily.
• Avoid throwing gasoline-,oil- or chemical-soiled clothes and towels into the dryer.  Instead, wash them several times and line-dry them.  If you have to use the dryer for them, choose the lowest setting and remove them the minute the cycle is finished.  Even washed-and-dried clothes that have come into contact with volatile chemicals can ignite.  Best bet:  Consider the clothes ruined and safely dispose of them.

Forgetfulness Frustrates Me

I am doing the laundry since yesterday.  Why does household chores seem so endless?  Sigh.  How I wish my mother or sister is here.  It is very obvious that I need some help.  In addition to this is becoming oblivious.  I knew there is something I should do then after a while, I totally forget about it.  So frustrating.  

Last night, my honey and I agreed to have fried pork chops for dinner today.  I already had it in my mind this morning-to get the pork chops off the freezer and let them thaw out.  Guess what happened?  My honey came home and no fried pork chops for dinner.  I am so annoyed with myself!  He said we will save them for tomorrow.  Although he comforted me, I still feel bad.

The Flame Of Friendship And An Award

It is always nice to hear from friends.  Sharing the good news, talk about the bad makes you feel happy and sad.  But what's really good is that, keeping in touch still means something.  It is important in keeping the friendship flame burns brighter. 

My friend told me that her car window was fixed.  And I told her also about my car almost had a flat tire.  For about thirty minutes we talked about car problems.  'Glad that they're solved immediately, of course, with the help of the husbands.

First Feeling Of Fall

It was a very pleasant day today.  Cool breeze was blowing all day.  'Cannot feel the heat of the sun so much because of the cool gusty winds.  No clouds in the sky and it's bright clear blue.  It was a nice day to play outdoors.  'Feels nice...really nice.  The first feeling of Fall. 

I took my baby outside this morning to get some sunshine.  I watered the plants in the front yard while she is in the stroller.  She enjoyed looking at the water fountain.  I thought she wished to be on the ground and play with the water. Our family went to town to do grocery shopping.  My honey made some home-made burgers and he grilled sausages.  That was our dinner this evening.

Tire Inflation Pressure Warning Symbol

When I drove to a grocery store the other night to buy us Margaritas I saw a warning symbol in my car.  The warning is a tire with an exclamation symbol inside.  I quickly parked and looked at the Scion XD user's manual to see what the warning symbol means.  It says "Tire Inflation Pressure warning".  Meaning one of the tires on my car has low air pressure.  So there is a possibility I will have a flat tire.  But I did not panic.  After I got what I wanted from the grocery store, I drove home five miles below the speed limit. 

I told my honey about the warning symbol.  The next morning he checked the tire and he saw a big screw (not a nail) on it.  My honey took my car to the car shop to fix the tire.  He paid $ 10.00.  I think that is a reasonable charge. 

Car monitoring systems and warning features like that really help us know what is going on with our car.  We should take care of our vehicle like we take care of everything else.
